It means that those results,grades, can undergo some changes, that is they are not the final results.Cie reserves the right to do such changes.  :-\
On the other hand , it rarely happens that a grade gets changed, therefore no worriess!! 8)

The article was under the heading, 12th of august. The info which follows meant that on the 12th of august.....shall the results be issued to cadidates. It doesnt mean that the results has already been announced.

its one that does not include all details and can change depending on situations
FInal result is on 12th

Provisional Result is also known as the Statement of Result. It is the result sheet that is issued by CIE and given by the centers on the day on which results are released. It is a temporary certificate so that you can apply for your desired colleges/universities. The Provisional Results are given because the Original Certificates are issued by CIE after two weeks.

Your center receives Provisional Results the day before the results are to be released.
