Hi. I have used this Transcend 250GB external HDD for about a year now. Suddenly, it doesn't work on my computer anymore. It's not even recognised as a USB device anymore. Instead it makes this beeping noise when connected. The only thing I can think of is that the USB cord head is a little bent? Can anyone help me, please?

What if theres somthing wrong with ur PC?

It doesn't work in other computers as well.

Hey, I had that exact problem!! The head is a little bent too! You could, however, try to use a flat screwdriver and try to adjust the head so that it doesn't look bent (you know what I mean? =\)
In the worst case scenario you can do nothing to fix it, I suggest you buy a new external hard disk case. Yes, just the case and it wouldn't cost you alot.

Is the cable attached to the hdd, or can you replace it? Most ext hdds have a mini usb port, and you can get a new cable for a few quid.
Hard drives by their definition are a little volatile, so any knocks it may have received may have damaged the disk.

So, the technician said the HDD crashed, :'(, so sad. Does anyone know how to recover data from a crashed external HDD?

I've googled and they don't do it in my area. I just have to wait till I go on a summer trip or something.
