Ah I did this paper last year. And there was no relative velocity. Most probably, you'll be getting one for this year.  ;)

And yes, even if there are no difficult questions on the paper, do not expect Cambridge to be too generous. It's going to lift up the grades. >95% for a dist. 1.

Which zone are you talking about?  ???

It's supposed to be depending on zone? Even the grades?

I'm in Mauritius, but we take the International Paper here.

Every Zone has its own grade boundaries. You are probably in Zone 2 or 3 because Distinction 1 and Distinction 2 are only part of your grades.

Here in Zone 4, we just have grades starting from A* to U. No Distinctions on percentages are allocated here.

Ah it's the same. Our result slips contain both the distinctions and grades.

The exception is that distinction 1 and 2 are both for A, for us.

Frankly speaking, no idea about the zone. Never heard about it here.

But that's the wrong attitude. When you have struggled hard and prepared for so long, and now, it's finally time for the race...
A good runner is the one who will never abandon, be it sunny or raining.

Preparation is never complete UNTIL you are ready to face everything.  ;)

Post by: iluvme on June 08, 2010, 03:47:40 pm
Well Yeah I didn't prepare that much for Relative Velocity Section because I always found it really confusing and still don't understand many of its concepts! :( (Even though sooo many teachers taught me this section!!)
And also my teachers told me that Relative Velocity is not even there in the AS n A2 syllabus so i ddnt have to worry much!!
As I am going to do only Math and not Furthur Math for my AS n A2 Hopefully! :)

Ah, okay...

My teacher had told us it would be the most difficult chapter... And because of that, I'd prepare for it very well.  :)
But unfortunately, relative velocity didn't come out.

Everybody was happy... till the results came out. Those who were expecting a distinction 1 (or A*, as you call it) got a simple A. Cambridge had modified the grade threshold.

I didn't expect it. It's common to get what you don't expect.  ;)

Grade Threshold, it's the range of marks for assigning grades.

A which was for 90-100 had been changed to 95-100.

^4 years of O-levels? ???
Additional Mathematics is a difficult subject. You'll need to learn concepts without rushing and past paper practice is crucial for a good grade. 2 years of hard work would be ideal for the syllabus.
If you love maths or don't find it challenging you'll find Add Maths interesting ;)
Good Luck (:

Additional Mathematics is NOT a difficult subject at all. It just requires a little hard work and two years are enough for preparation of Additional Mathematics.

In fact, you should take Additional Mathematics because if you are planning to take Maths in A Levels, Additional Mathematics will help you a lot.
