A cantilevered balcony is shown below. using the data given on the diagram, calculate the value of the support force S.

Making a simplified diagram, we can say that:

Taking moments about A:
Clockwise Moments = Anticlockwise moments
(2000)(4) + (1800)(5) + (800)(8 ) = 3S
23400 = 3S
S = 7800 N.
