Title: CIE Math 9709
Post by: pastyear on May 28, 2010, 09:51:13 am
How was this paper and which varient are you taking?

I took varient 3 and i did a lot of mistakes.

I have a question which i am not sure about the answer so i wrote both methods to solve it. One of the method and answer are correct, do you think i can score in that question?

Can someone tell me? Thanks.

I know we are not allow to discuss the questions but i am just ask ppl who already took d paper about the level of difficulties and to clear my anxious.

It's been quite a few 24 hours now, so I tihnk it's safe to discuss.  :P Plus it makes little sense why one should have a problem discussing within 24 hours anyhow--Cambridge didn't go through the hassle of Key Time for kicks.

Anyhow, the examiner will probably check the first method and leave the other, though it also depends on how much leverage the examiner is allowed by the mark scheme. I took Variant 2 so I probably can't tell you how to solve the question without knowing it myself, so yeah.

how do you know the marking scheme is allow or not? which symbol do you refer?

Post by: Chingoo on May 28, 2010, 10:32:10 am
I'm not sure of the symbol myself. If you have the abbreviation key, which appears before some of the older marking keys, you can see if there's an abbreviation for that.

The good thing abt paper 32 is that No argand diagram and skteches whatsoever.
Tbh, 1 hr 45 is a bit tight for anyone who are not really prepared.
Usually, I finished 1 hour for mocks.. but today I took 1hr 30 min.

Paper 32 was different, but it was easier than the past papers (either that or I learned enough from the past papers).
I panicked when I first saw the questions. They all seemed more difficult compared to the past papers, but as it turns out only the procedure is long, but they are not tricky.
I'm not sure of what grade I'll get, though.

yea i did, you just had to use the normal of one plane as a derectoin vector and the dv that is already given by the line, it was ok finished early though so im worried if i completely miss took all the questions or worst missed out a questions

I took Paper 33, which might be the 'easier' variant. It is one of the easiest papers in the history... So threshold could be higher... perhaps around 65/75 to get A
Seems like Paper 32 is a harder variant...

You need to substitute again for the implicit function. I think twice for that question. Lol
