I advice you to set your computer's settings to UK settings.
Control Panel-Regional Options- and change both options to united kingdom. This might solve your problem

i tried but it didn't work, here this is the screen shot- (if it didn't come, sorry)(http://C:\Documents and Settings\soroosh\Desktop) the software doesn't allow me to change the formats and i'm forced to do it when th data is already imported.  :-\

and what about the query, is it okay if I use Like #*/01/2009#

that means your not an Admin account. you can also change it like this

when you import your file, first time click next in the second one
when u choose the option " choose first row as field name "
then click the advance options button bellow then from the date format choose " dd/mm/yy"

that;ll work too .

in the Query just put like this   ( Between 1/1/2009 And 31/1/2009 )  and click enter  * without the brackets *
copy that part exactly from the Question paper . thats it
when u press enter the # thing will show up by its self

No it should work. Or as Emii said

For the dates, there is a formula called between forumla.

Between "Expr" And "Expr"   Put instead Expr the dates required.
Good luck
