i think that some of the questions where easy and some were very tricky ... there was a lot of calculations which were time consuming ....... and i had 2 do abt 8 question by luck ... there were also 4 question repeated frm za past papers !!!
WAT DID U ALL GUYZ DO????
-
wrong. there were 9 questions repeated. n ya i was really very tricky
-
i mean it was really very tricky. ;D
-
Please do not discuss the paper until after 24 hours of taking it.
Thank you.
-
sorry. wont happen again. :-X
ps. anyone taking chemistry parcticals paper 3 varient 33. if yes any tips on mole questions. :)
-
i had to some of the questoins by luk too. very time consuming :(
-
hey im really not sure i think i failed it was hard !!!! , i kno its not allowed to discuss here but i sent u a pm
-
Great paper :)
-
admit it was hard -.-
-
Lol no it wasn't....one of my best papers...lol :P
Oh yeah and as roxy said, do not disclose anything here
-
Lol no it wasn't....one of my best papers...lol :P
Oh yeah and as roxy said, do not disclose anything here
are u frikn' serious...??!!!!
thats probably one of my worst papers... EVER.
even if i wanted to tell someone what came on it i wouldnt.. cause i hardly got to read the thing. lol. :'(
-
people seriously the paper was not bad..except that we didnt have time :SS i mean i solved like 30 questions which were ok but the rest of the 10 needed thinking and that took tym..am sure i lost 6 marks till now ...i dono hope i get above 30 :SS
-
it wasn't that difficult..
it went fine....
but don't disclose any information about it! ;)
-
sorry. wont happen again. :-X
ps. anyone taking chemistry parcticals paper 3 varient 33. if yes any tips on mole questions. :)
i think we just need to know the basics no? . so how to find mol given mass and mr, dilution, finding concentration . gas would most likely not come out cause measureing gass =danger. umm that should be it i think
-
Ya it was damn good. best so far.
-
REALLY REALLY REALLY TRICKY!!!!
I had time to revise and SEE the tricks
-
I did poor in the paper...might get around 20-28mks....but i am going to my best in practicals and P2....so no worries after all its overall mks that count ;)
-
it was seriously hard i thought o/n o9 was MUCH easier than this -_-....
-
hey guys the paper was ok ok not bad......so when can we start discussing but mechanics was AWESOME...........
-
it was seriously hard i thought o/n o9 was MUCH easier than this -_-....
I concur. Completely.
Because I solved every single pastpaper I had(from 2002 on).. and seriously, this was
definetely the hardest.
-
somehow I liked the paper... :-\
-
hey guys the paper was ok ok not bad......so when can we start discussing but mechanics was AWESOME...........
I THINK WE CAN DISCUSS IT AFTER 10 HRS FRM NOW CUZ BY THAT TYM EVERY 1 MUST HAVE BEEN DONE WIZ IT ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
an awful awful awful horrible paper :( :( :(
i agree o/n 09 was a lot easierr!
-
this paper sucked sooo bad...its was soooo HARD i cudnt even revise once

OMGSSHH IT WAS AMAAAZZIINNNGGG!!! :D:D:D:D:D
like the most incredibl paper EVVAARR!!
no seriusly .. WTF was tht about!??! >:(
i was soo lostt!!! i had no idea when the exam startd and finishd!!
i w like WHAM!! done!!
WTH!?!?!
no really WTH!?!?!!!??
vry question needed half an hour on its own ...
40 questions in 1 hour?? r u kidding me?!!?
ok i get it , u want us to fail ...
but this badly??
dude seriusly .. KISS MY POLITE BEHIND!!

dudet...i dunno why...this paper was really really awesome...like you first 2 lines :P
u must be the most intelligent person on this earth then. but for us it was damn hard. did u discuss the paper with ur sirs or teachers?
-
dudet...i dunno why...this paper was really really awesome...like you first 2 lines :P
wht do u eat at home!??!
no seriusly ... i think i evn got the past papers ones wrong -
but u knw , sm kids wer lke
"OMGSSHHH NOOOOOOO I GOT ONE WRONG!!!"
me n my frnds r all like -_- one?? really? ONE??
-
Actually it wasn't hard, just lack of time :(
If i got 15 minutes more, i'm positive that i can reach at least 35 marks :D
Just in my opinion...
-
yhhh even me .. it ws tricky n need lots of calculation :S:S .. i ddnt hv the time to do most of the question > just by luck ... :(:(

LOL no VONDAAA!!!
-
Can anyone pls private message me their doubts and answers for their doubts ??
I am very stressed at the moment because of such paper :S. Very tricky questions, many calculations and very little time !!!
-
it ws easy..but lenghty didnt even read 3 of the questions..couldnt manage tym..!!!n made a few sily mstakes
-
LOL no VONDAAA!!!
sorry what?
-
sorry what?
she meant no wonder :P
-
it was awesome! not bad at all
-
It is the first time that I have actually seen questions being repeated.. so many at once that is.
Anyways if u have done October November 2009 then you will see that it was comparitively very very Easy.
Tricky??
I wouldn't say tricky. I think the most dangerous thing about this paper was that it was less tricky than the previous ones which had me convinced that I was doing stuff wrong. But now I know I didn't do em wrong ^^. I had a confusion in 5-6 question and after confirmation from PROFESSIONAL ppl only 3 of them are wrong ^^. But I am bound to get the simpler ones wrong. I alway get the simplest ones wrong.
-
Hated the paper man! It was by far the hardest paper compared to the other papers. And dude oct/nov 09 was dead easy infront of this sh*t.
-
THE PAPER WAS MIND BLASTING, ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC, TOOO GOOD, TOOO GOOD!!
-
this paper SUCKED!!!!!bad....wth is wrong with the examiners r they like high or sumthing while making the exam....it was sooooo fin hard its not even funny......i think i failed it most of the questions required thinking n guess wat thts wat im bad at....i basically guessed most of them...

u know what, I actually agree wid u ,, being less was very dangerous. I think i did the tough qs right nd done the easy ones wrong :( ... It would have been way better wid a little more time. :(
-
Yeah i guess time was the factor.
-
do u think v cud discuss the paper now cuz im sooo curious to noe whether u guys put the same answers tooo or not

aaaaaaaa... that power.. car one...
and that diffraction ques how to diffract it more...
that Lithuim ques...
n loop one frequency...
thermister n LDR ques..
Pressure ques that 110KW...
n that electric field (it was towards the observer)...
-
Just wanna confirm: In the collision of trolleys ques. (equal masses, 1 moving at 60 cm/s and another at -40cm/s) , the 2 trolleys stuck together after the impact right?

loop one frequency, the ans is 2f
thermister n LDR ques, the ans is that both will be low.
that electric field (it was towards the observer)... correct ans
that diffraction ques how to diffract it more... the ans is A
could u plz specify the lithuim question i forgot it

ya and the ans is A
-
Abt the lithium ques., it was abt the beta emission of 8,3 Li. There was a graph of neutron no. vs proton no. given. Think the ans is B
-

:( wrong even i thought the ans was B but it was A ( we discussed the paper with our sir after the exam)
-
I can't remember, but was A 8,4 Li?
-
I can only remember choosing the ans which was on the top left of the graph (4 protons, 4 neutrons).
-
I can only remember choosing the ans which was on the top left of the graph (4 protons, 4 neutrons).
and i remember chosing B
-
The lithium question was confusing but in the end i chose A :) .
What about the following questions:
1. The force extension graph where the spring constant was required
2. The force distance graph of the electric field where there was located a positive charge
3. The change of state of ice to water
4. The electric field question where there was a positive charge located in a circle
5. The uncertainty of the density of something :D

0.2
constant straight line
decrease-increase
they say its 0 but i put C E * pie*r/2
0.6

For the spring constant, I don't remember 0.2 as a choice !!
Why do the spacings decrease when ice becomes water ??
Are you sure about the uncertainty ? I chose 0.5.

ans for 3 is B
ans for 4 is A ( which is o even i did what 'spy' did i chose C)
ans for 5 is B
would u plz specify the first 2 question (i have got a poor memory)

1. A force (N) against Extension (mm) graph and it was a straight line which had a negative gradient and the spring constant was required and the answer i chose was 500 Nm^-1.
2. A force against distance graph where the positive charge moved from the negative plate to the positive plate.
Are you sure of number 3 ?? I think that both the spacing and density should increase. Does anybody agree with me ?
I chose +/- 0.5 for the uncertainty and i heard from fellow students that it should be +/- 0.6.
-
no im sure for the constant its 0.2 it was simply y2-y1/x2-x1 gradient and i tried it for many points it always worked out as 0.2 :)
and for the density yeah im sure cause if you decrease the spacing then you decrease volume which is inversely proportional to the density and therefore density increases, so one is decrease and the other is increase
and yep uncertainty was surely 0.6 :D
-
I badly did that paper
i felt very sad i even cried a little bit because i did all the past papers and did well in them, but in this paper i did a lot of mistakes!!!

Did you convert the mm into m ?
Can you tell me the steps you did for the uncertainty. I can tell you mine. I subtracted maximum mass of of beaker + liquid from minimum mass of empty beaker and divided minimum volume of liquid by this answer. Do you remember the values and uncertainty of each ?? :D

oh ya now i remember the 1 ans is 500Nm^-1
2 i think the ans was the one with the straight line staitionay sort of
i m sure abt the density uncertanity it was .5

Dear spy
i have checked the paper with my sir after the the xam. the answer is not .2. n the density is also no .6
sorry to dissapoint u but this is the truth( just kidding :D) but what i said was right

Well Sabrina, I have to say that you are just putting down the fire inside me :D . I hope that the uncertainty density and the spring constant choices are correct :) .
What about the question of the wave that will experience significant diffraction. I remember the choices were Infrared, Radio waves, Ultraviolet and Microwaves. What was your answer ?
Also that one about the energy efficiency of the car going up the slope, what was you choice ?
-

i m sorry but really whatever i m saying i cross checked my sir.
for the wave i think it was ultravoilent ( do u remember the frequency or the wavelenght which was given if yes then i can give the exact answer right now)
for the car going up was D
-
wot wot wott? the best paper.. omoo, its like my worse paper.. :(
i dunno how to count the energy" thingy.. and need to read the procedure like 20 minutes..
the no.2 was okay but the 1st one is like wot thee...
-

I chose ultraviolet too. I think the gap width was 10^-5 m.
For the car going up, I chose C which was 0.5mv^2/2Fs.
Do you remember the answer to that crane lifting things up :D ? I chose 5.5 KW
-
By the way, Sabrina, what is your sir's expectations for the grade thresholds ??
-

same here 5.5kw is the ans

guys the effeciency IM 100% sure its C mv^2/2FS dont tell me sir or whatever its simplee!!
effeciency=work/energy input
work = kinetic energy change = 0.5mv^2
and energy input is always equal to the work done by driving force= Fs
there fore 1/2 * mv^s/Fs= mv^2/2fs
-
By the way, Sabrina, what is your sir's expectations for the grade thresholds ??
sir says that the thresshold can be around 29 or 30 or 31. he himself said the question were very tricky
-

you didnt have to convert because at the end i divided by 5mm which would give the same value if you converted to meters first then diviided by 0.005
-
#for the ice-water question i chose tht the spacing increase(cuz particles move apart start sliding...)and the density decreases(cuz the volume increases since spacing increase)
#for the question abt the waves 10^(-5) i chose infrared(cuz light itself is 10^-7 to 10^-5.sumthing)
#the question abt the uncertainity i chose 0.6
#the power question i jst guessed and chose 3ohms
#for the lithium question i chose A
#towards the observer was the answer i chose for tht field question
not sure abt the rest wat did u guys put for the minimum resultant force when 3,4,5n are at random angles i put
between 2 and 4 but i think its rong most of my frnds did 0
-

spy plz show some respect towards teachers. even my friends and my classmate boys did this but sir showed us the whole working and atlast he got the ans D (he did something and the varables got cancel out)
-
Hey it was nt ultraviolet, it was infra red... n uncertainity ws 0.5
-
@sabrina, okay your teacher is amazing happy? :)
it was ultraviolet because it didnt diffract at 10^-5 width! and therefore it had to be much smaller, which is ultraviolet
-

yes sorry it was infrared.actually i forgot the wavelength which was given in the question.
abt the uncertainity i m sure its .5
the power question was 2 ohms(even i did 3ohms)
even i did the angle b\w 2&4 but the ans is 0 abt the density one it is specifically said in the questions that it contracts when it changes to liquid so the ans is B
-
w8....the question abt the ways...they gave the wavelength n asked wats the wave tht has it ryt...i think i read the question rong but i also chose C for the efficiency and i also converted the mm into m then i found the constant but i dont remeber wat my answer was...how abt the question abt emf and internalresistance i did emf(R1+R2)=I but i got a value that was to the power -4 and none of the answers vr so i jst chose the option which was to the power -3
-
sorry emf/R1+R2
-
@sabrina, okay your teacher is amazing happy? :)
it was ultraviolet because it didnt diffract at 10^-5 width! and therefore it had to be much smaller, which is ultraviolet
spy its infrared not UV
-
IT DID NOT GIVE WAVELENGTHH!!!! IT SAID THIS IS A WIDTH THROUGH WHICH THEY PASS! AND IT SAID THAT THE WAVE DOES NOT DIFFRACT! THIS MEAN ITS WAVELENGTH HAD TO BE MUCH SMALLER THAN THE WIDTH! WHICH IS ULTRAVIOLET! god!
and sabrina please stop "enlightening" us with your teacher's answers, keep it to yourself
-
I think it is Ultraviolet. The wavelength range of infrared is from 7*10^-7 to 10 ^-3 and ultraviolet is from 6*10^-8 to 4*10^-7 and since that he asked for significant diffraction then it should be the smallest wavelength which is ultraviolet.
-
@spy wavelength was given. n ya sabrina plz stop praising ur teacher.
-

AS u wish. i thought i was helping someone but i didnt know that i was anoying anyone. i m sorry
-
@spy wavelength was given. n ya sabrina plz stop praising ur teacher.
The wavelength was not given, it was the width of the gap.
-
r u really sure? maybe u have another varient. n that ques didnt said anythng about difraction. it only gave wavelength n askd which of the folowing have this wavelngth. maybe u hav another varient n ques r changd?
-
u guys mayb thr was a difference in the question paper which variant vr u guys i was 11....sumtimes thrs a difference in the questions
-
The wavelength was not given, it was the width of the gap.
EXACTLY :D
well yeah maybe its variants but im sure of my variant :)
-
r u really sure? maybe u have another varient. n that ques didnt said anythng about difraction. it only gave wavelength n askd which of the folowing have this wavelngth. maybe u hav another varient n ques r changd?
I took variant 11 and i am sure that he asked for significant diffraction and the gap width was the given :)
-
Agreed...! lets see what comes in phy n chem practicals. m v.tensed about it specialy after what s3 guys said about chem prac.
-
wat hapd abt thr chem pract its 2day ryt?? im not doing chem or bio all i noe is tht both of them vr hard so i think i have a feeling even ours myt b hard but its jst a thought
-
pheww i think my paper was better.....afta lookin at the solutions u guys are givin....
n By the way i heard there are no thresholds this time for us A levels?? :S
-
@neno u in s3 or s4?
-
@zara ya true... no a* for as... nly star a2.
-
wats s3 and s4??is it variant ??
-
@zara ya true... no a* for as... nly star a2.
yeah tht i kno...im doin both AS n A2 so for us there are A*s...i was askin bout the thresholds, anyways...
-
p1 is greaaat, better than any other test.. :D
but the time is not enoughh.. 20 minutes left and im still in numba 20 or more... :-\
-
yeaah
-
What did u guys get for the frequency of the square wave question?
-
140Hz
-
cool u guys actually rememba the answers!! nice
-
wat did ya guys get for that power on 5500W i think........
-
yeah...power was 5.5kW...
and By the way what was the uncertainty in question 3? i got 0.6 but people were saying its wrong or something...
and what was the answer in the lithium question where it underwent some nuclear process?
-
hey guys, what did ya'll right for the question which asked abt efficiency. I wrote D..plz explain if it's correct. n was the answer for first question 1.95mm?
-
answer of uncertainity 0.6 FOR SUREEEEEE
effeciency was C look back in the topic i explained.
and for the power its 5.5kw, and im pretty sure :)
-
efficiency was mgsina/f. i think that was the option D. and about that i'm sure :)
and spy could you do the uncertainty question here?
-

ans for a was 1.45mm
-

effeciency was C look back in the topic i explained.
and for the power its 5.5kw, and im pretty sure :)
no man the efficiency is D m pretty sure :)
yes as u said energy input is Fs
and energy output is not ke because if i am not wrong speed was constant so u have to use pe...thus mgh/fs however we dont know h
so mgsina x s / fs so mgsina/f
-
efficiency was mgsina/f. i think that was the option D. and about that i'm sure :)

hey tht question i can solve can u jst recall the values for uncertainty
-

uncertainity answer was 0.5 for sureeeeeeeeeeeeee
efficiency was d...for sureeeeeeee
n yeah ! for power 5.5kw Thanks!
does any one remember answer for rubber band wala question...there were graphs of force to extension and rubber was stretched till it's breaking point? was was the ans...i wrote A is it's correct? plz explain..
-
no im sure its C because effeciency=work/energy input
and we all know work=ke=0.5mv^2 and energy input is worke done by driving force which is equal to Fs
0.5mv^2/Fs = mv^2/2Fs
it had nothing to do with mgsin because its energy and mass not weight
and even if it was constant so? just keep it 0.5mv^2 you still have a velocity
though you have a point ima_shah2002 :P
yes i can if someone can remind me of the values :)

and even if it was constant so? just keep it 0.5mv^2 you still have a velocity
though you have a point ima_shah2002 :P
yes i can if someone can remind me of the values :)
lol, you're one overconfident guy...:P
and lol, for efficiency its energy required/work done. :P
work done is always more than the amount of energy required to the thing required, cos work done also includes work done against resistance.....

Ok guys, Here is the uncertainty question:
Mass of beaker = 20 +/- 1 gm
Mass of beaker + Mass of liquid = 70+/- 1 gm
Volume of liquid= 10 +/-6 cm^3
The value of the density given was 5 gm/cm^3
To get the maximum density we need to get the maximum mass of liquid over minimum density of liquid.
Maximum mass = 71 - 19= 52 gm
Minimum volume= 9.4 cm^3
Maximum density= 52/9.4 = 5.5319
Uncertainty= 5.5319-5= 0.53191
So the uncertainty should be +/- 0.5

this was A right?

is this GCSE?

@ Halosh:
I cannot actually remember the letter of 0.5 but as far as i can it was C.
@ Maryum:
No, This Cie GCE AS level Physics.

I need to check two other questions.
1. The one of the minimum resultant force of three forces.
2. That one of the stationary or moving charge and parallel or perpendicular electric field lines
-
How about the question where it says which graph is representing the force acting on an electron as distance x increases (x was the distance from negative to positive plate)??
my answer was A (the parabola)
anyone knows the right answer plz reply :D

force would be constant straight line parralel to x-axis

1. The one of the minimum resultant force of three forces.
2. That one of the stationary or moving charge and parallel or perpendicular electric field lines
minimum is 0.
5N left and 3,4 N force on the right acting at 90 degree to each other
R^2=3^2 + 4^2
R=5
5-5 = 0 :D
charge can be stationary or moving and force is parallel to field
Ans i remember:
2.45 reading for screw gauge
neuclear reaction, neutrons conserved
2 masses stick v=10
P*V=energy
Q1 unit of volt ans was D
kirchoff one,conservation ofcharge
efficiency one was D mgsin/F
K=200 spring constant
A=1.3 acceleration
A doubled D double X remains same
5.5kw power
v=w/q e=w/q
and guys does anyone know the answer for the 2 same masses 1 station other collides with velocity V?

Are you sure that the force is parallel to the field ?? I chose stationary or moving charge and force is perpendicular to field.
For the spring constant, i got it 500 N/m.
The one you're asking about is D which was already a past paper question.
What did you chose for the rubber graph question ?

The force is parallel to the FIELD(pretty sure)
hmm what was D? was it 1/2 v to right and left?
I chose B, gradient of curve decreasing... (dunno if its correct)
and spring constant was 200 man we had to find the gradient of line

Yeah, I think i knew now why the force is parallel to the field. I have just misinterpreted the question.
D was the first ball stops and the second ball moves with v.
Well i tried the spring constant several times and i got it 500 N/m and i did get the gradient. I took the first point and last one on the graph.
What about that power question of the resistor, was it 3 Ohms or 2 Ohms and that question of the density and spacings of water ?

2 ohm and density and spacing one i dunno:P
and i am pretty sure the ccordinates were (40,12) (100,0) // 40,100 were in mm and gradient is 200.
aw i did the ball one wrong :(
-
I got 200N/m by finding the gradient using the coordinates given by A.T.. Im curious, how did u guys get 500n/m? And I dont remember the ques. abt. the power and resistors (the 2 or 3 ohm one). Wasnt there a ques. abt. a 24W battery (we had to find the power dissipated in resistor R iirc. there were 2 other resistors, P&Q). I got 4W for that one.
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i got atleast 5-6 worong... :'( :'(

yeh the first one stops and the other moves to the right at a speed of v :D thats a repeated question :D
