Hey guys I am currently taking 6 IGCSE subjects and 4 EDEXCEL ones - french, geog, urdu, and eng lit.
I am horrible at french and am confident i can get A or above in everything else so my question to you would be that do you think I can drop french? i am doing edexcel GCSE french and am wondering it is optional? My speaking exam is on saturday in 2 days and its the weekend so I cant talk to anyone at school about this... i have urdu anyways so i will still be doing 9 subjects like everyone else...
thanks for any and all advice...
-
So you already registered for the subject and payed the money?
If yes, then just sit in your exam and try. You won't lose anything.
I can give you links for you to prepare for your speaking exam in 2 days or even 1 day and you will do great in it. =]
Other than that, I believe 8 subjects are enough.

Here are some links where you can study french from :
http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php >> was posted already somewhere by Nid404. AWESOME ONE.
https://studentforums.biz/index.php/topic,3832.0.html >> Many resources
http://www.s-cool.co.uk/gcse/french.html
http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/french/ >> check speaking section.
I almost studied from ONLY those links for my speaking and the examiner told me 5 days ago in my speaking IGCSE exam that I did very good. =]

thanks again for those wonderful links and the help and comments...
my problem is that i started french in year 10, whereas others have been doing for basically year 5 onwards, so i dont know the basics of the languages and this means that i am horrible at tenses and grammar... i think this will drastically affect my speaking mark... also my spellings are horrible and accents are almost non-existent...
i realise i probably sound very biased and lazy and stubborn but there you have it!
even if i do decide to go ahead with this, what are the consequences if i refuse to do the exam 5 minutes before it is scheduled and simply say i am taking urdu instead of french?
thanks guys!
@T.Q - yes i am aware, tuition fees are unfortunately extremely high here, but it is one of the best english based schools in saudi arabia and i have little choice...
-
I STARTED FRENCH IN GRADE 9!!!!!!
and you live in KSA?! which city? school?
-
ahaha but i simply dont understand the language! :( can't get my head around the tenses and unfortunately didnt put in too much work and focused on other stuff...
im in riyadh :)

if u registered for an exam
and u didnt do it
u will have an X MARK for that subject
so my advice to u , go ahead and do it
By the way , where r u from , i mean ur original country
-
X mark, hmm... what if i simply tell my advisor to "unregister" me or withdraw my application... :/
i'm from pakistan originally :)
-
I don't think that's possible. You just take a X, one of my friend took an X.
@AF..Thx for the +rep. =]
-
thanks for the reply mate! still have to rep you guys for all the helpful insight...
my next question (sorry! ahah) is that will the X have any foreseeable impact on things like university applications or on my future or education at all? is it bad?
thank you!
