Title: Mechanics Help!!!

hey everyone, i need an urgent help in tackeling this Question, its annoying me >:( well its Q 6 nov 2004, see the paper attatched below. I need a detailed explanation with sketches if possible, thanks in advance  :)

Trickey question. The explanation will be tortuous. Can you explain how you think of the question have I will try and straighten your argument.

Frankly ii have no idea, its quite tricky and confusing and i dunno how to tackle such questions, besides i dont quite get your way of doing it.. :-\,

I start from first principles on a question like this. Draw separate diagrams for each block, showing all the forces.
Resolve vertically and horizontally and apply F=ms
