Title: chemistry doubt...stoichiometry
Post by: helllife on December 07, 2009, 07:42:34 pm
Titration of a sample containing 0.001mol of an oxychloride of vanadium voclx, required 20.0cm3 of 0.020 moldm-3 kmno4(aq) for its complete oxidation in acidic medium.

1) Use E@ data from the data booklet to predict the final oxidation state of the vanadium after the titration.
2) use the titration data given above to calculate the change in oxidation number undergone by the vanadium during the titration.
3) hence deduce a value for x in voclx.

could anyone answer and explain this question? i would really apprenciated if anyone does :)

I dont have mark scheme...about the question paper it is handwritten in which my sir wrote.....i got the question answer wrong.

but as much as i know the oxidation for vanadium cannot be 3.
