Title: Question regarding CIE Exams =D
Post by: Trinion on November 03, 2009, 10:50:14 pm
Don't know if this is the right place to post it =/

Anyway, I've just completed the AS Stats today, and actually did much worse than I expected.

I am relatively sure I got 98% or 99% in P1, but as for S1, I probably lost 10 marks FOR SURE =C

What I am asking is, does CIE actually scale your mark?
As in for example, I get 97% (which is 58.2/60) in pure and 70% (28/40) in stats, which gives me a combined mark of 86.2/100 overall.

Would that be the final mark (86%) I get on my certificate? Or does CIE actually adjust this?

Thanks in advance =)

Yes. Your a level grade depends on the sum of your marks for all the modules

Ah
Thank you very much

So JUST my AS certificate for this year, what would it say in the AS mathematics part?
Would it say : P1 : 97% (A) S1 75% (B) Overall (A) or something like that?
Or do they just show up as one Maths with Stats (A)?

The first. Most unis are only interested in your overall grade though.

Statistics wise, most examination boards want their number of As to be formed into a normal distribution, so the standard for the grading of A should vary. That's what most of us think anyway. And By the way, yeah! This Statistics paper was tougher as compared to previous years :( I lost 5 marks carelessly ~_~ Due to lack of sleep as I had to rush up my Econs :(

Hey Astar. I'm currently doing my IGCSE's and I'm wondering how we get the results (in January), will it be only the grade for each subject, or will we be able to see our grade for each paper within the subject...??

Thanks

You should be getting your user name and password like a week after all the CIE exams in your school has finished. Like for my school i'm probably going to get my user and pass on the day of the prize giving  ;). Just before we go on our holiday. ;D
