get that AS booklet..i think its ment for teachers but the appendix in last pages help in someway

http://www.knockhardy.org.uk/sci.htm (http://www.knockhardy.org.uk/sci.htm)
this site has few notes on errors, moles and rate of reaction...
hav a look at past pap.....do the calculations part with some value of tit. vol. mostly its bout 24-26.5 ml

Nope.

Obviously there will be 3 questions.

One on titration
Second on the identification of cations/anions
Third: SURPRISE :o

gl

I too have my exam a day after tomorrow.

im not really sure of my sources but i heard that the second question is about dehydration of salts(refer may/jun 2002)
and the third question is about qualitative analysis of course but something to do with organic chemistry........no reaction kinetics or thermo chemistry.......this is for paper 33!!!! good luck

I've heard rumors that a crucible is involved. In paper 33

I do not believe that we will have anything to do with organic compounds in our AS exam tomorrow. :S

i strongly encouraged u to read organic compounds because ethanol is present as a reagent in the exam lab.

if it's not for QA it can be asked in titration, so u should note the colour changes.

and about the crucibles, yes they are present on the exam lab for paper 33.

there's no purpose of providing a crucible (which is rarely used) if it don't have any function in the questions.

but is it in the instructions for the reagents to be used for the practical?

I had 3 questions aswell.
The first was titration and heating.
Second was identification of ions.
The last was a bit tricky. Did you guys get lead as the cation present in FA9?

yeah i got Pb2+ as well. By the way what's the chemical process? i put oxidation but some of my friends say esterification?

hey,
what were the reagents you used for Q2 ?

did anyone else feel a time constraint during this exam ?

thanks,
Wunderkind

i used AgNO3 and dilute HCl..  hbu?
i think this time the experiment is quite okay..
i had bout 25mins left.. but during my trials i really didn't have time to finish..

i used PbNO3 and dil H2SO4 ... didnt really get the expected results for that one.
lol maybe time was a problem for me b'cuz i re-tried this one hoping to get wat i expected

everyone seems to have done well, so the percentile should be high this time around.
