The highlighting part of the paper is not given much importance by the examiners
They only look for the highlighting on the html code print out

i practice 18 paper 4s, before the exam, (from 1998 June till 2008 Nov)
while for paper 2, i had only done like 2-3 paper 2 before the exam, and i got really nervous 1 day before the exam, because i had to practice other papers, while i had done very little.
but still ANY DOUBTS IN maths P4 - ANY PAPER (except 2009) ASK ME :D

at A y was 0...so putting in the valu e of y as 0..u get x...which was coming out to be -4
den A and B were 9 points away!!
so x at B become 5

this gives u c=-10

To find the distance between A and B, i.e, the bold black inclined line, you will need to find the length of the two red dotted lines I have named x and y.
Using Pythagoras' Theorem,
Square of longest side = Sum of squares of the two smallest sides.
Send square to the other side...

And to find the two smallest sides:
x = 3 - 0 [y1 - y]
y = 3 - 0 [x1 - x]
Note that the triangle formed is a right-angled one.
And now substituting the values for x and y, you will come back to the distance formula given.
Actually, this formula is just another way of using the Pythagoras' Theorem.

I think it was if the salt solution and the dandelion stem solutions are equal, then there'd be no change...
You can check by measuring the mass on a balance before and after the experiment
or the length before and after the experiment, if it's the same then it proves no change has occured...isn't it? LOl. :/

hey..once u record all the entries by cheque on the debit side...it gives u a total of $4400....and on the credit side u have $3600 for p/l because its already specified in the question that "The amount payable is $900 quarterly in advance"..therefore the rent is paid 4(quater) times during the year which comes upto $3600 (4x$900)!!and to balance it u have $800 as balance c/d!

hm..I made it sort of into a descriptive narrative.....Actually i love descriptive writing, but den i tend to follow a chronology ...so i thought attempting a narrative is a smarter option as i can follow a chronology and b slightly descriptive as well...

manafacturing theory is more likely than the numerical...i/e can some and partnership is normally very easy and restricted to appropriation accnt only...

Hey guys, just a tip. If you are like me, and study last minute (i.e. the day before the exam itself), you should do as many past year papers as possible, then mark them yourself with the marking scheme. This way you can do exercises and know your mistakes while also knowing what the examiner will be looking for.
By the way I'm taking Eng 1st language(p2,3), Bio&Chem&Physics (p1,3,6), Accounts (p1,2,3), Maths (p2,4), Add.Maths (p1,2).

Well according to my Add maths teacher, pretty much every topic will come out, if not in paper 1 then it will come out in paper 2. So, I think all the topics will come out. I hope proving trigo equations comes out (my favourite ;) ).

so if i get a B fr paper 2... and get an A* for paper 3.. then i'll get an A* overall?It depends on how the performance of everyone is, if your marks are greater then 90% of the people that took the exam then you can get an A*
By the way, some people are saying that this year the A* will be lowered, instead of 90% its 85%, principally because of the swine flu epidemic. Note that these are rumours and it isnt confirmed, the official gradings will be shown in jan 14-24

I'm from New Zealand and all my classmates at Avondale College also thought it was over the top. It's like they know exactly what you aren't going to study, and then they test you on it. I think I did very bad. But hopefully the grade thresholds are quite low.... :o

I answered that you need to measure the thikness of both wooden blocks, and then place them block-lens-block; the blocks parallel to each other and touching the lens by each side. Then measure the thickenss of all the three things together (block-lens-block) and to this measurement substract the initial thickness of both blocks.
Is this right??

paper 6 was damn easy. we had to plot the graph of T2 to x (cm)
i got the graph as an exact straight line, and thus concluded that they are inversely proportional.

well i guess p6 would be much easier then, cos they said this session p5 looked very easy, altho its actlly tricky and a bit tough.
all i know is for the first question, if your drew the graph as a straight line, you got it wrong. its not supposed to be a straight line. (tho inversely proportional is correct)
for second one i somehow got same results; rate of cooling for both the two methods- didnt know what did i do wrong. kinda funny.
third one my focal length was totally a joke. fouth one due to my stupidity i drew thermistor symbol instead of variable resistor (they look similar, dont they sigh.)
ITS NOT THAT HARD. just that i found it a bit tougher than the other past papers, esp june 09.
and yea ofcos, under exam condition it was easy to get dragged away. panic and stuff.

anw aft i had been so worried abt my performance for this practical, one good news from my phys teacher is that the examiner will look more at our overall performance (%) and THEN, follow the threshold.
so now im a little confused whether if we get overall 90%+ but practical slightly lower than the threshold, will we still get A*?
my phys teacher told me that we would still get. i do greatly hope he's correct.
By the way this session threshold would probably be low as well. definitely lower than jun09 and some other sessions.

This is it:
1)Sulphur is burned in air so: SO2 + O2 --> SO2
2)Sulphur is mixed with more air and passed over several beds of catalyst, vanadium oxde, at 450 degrees:
2S02 + O2 (reversible symbol) 2SO3 (sulphur trioxide)
3)Than it is dissolved in conc. sulphuric acid and oleum is formed.
4) It is than mixed with wateer:
H2O + SO3 --> H2SO4
This forms concentrated sulphuric acid.
It is important that you focus especially on step 2 because it is a reversible reaction and it is good to know how a high yield is achieved and stuff...

HOWEVER, calculus will come out in both papers, and few other topics as well. but yea most importantly calculus.

well anyway im trying to remember what questions came out.. i remember there was factor theorem, permutation n combination, differentiation, trigonometry, surds/indices, simultaneous equasions, sets..
there was no binomial theorem or logarithms right or functions or circular measure or matrices. no vectors or linear questions.. anyone else remember anything else? imtrying to figure out what to study
i got k = 0.02 for the bacteria question. then t = thirty something
for the trigonometry question, the one that was like tan x = 3 sin x, did you end up with 3 cos x = 1??
and anyone know where i can find notes on how to tell the domain and range for ln x or e^x graphs??

copper is definitely not ferrous, the ONLY ferrous material s are COBALT, NICKEL, IRON dat is ALL
therefore, copper is not attracted to an electromagnet.
for question 2, the answer was 600V dc
for question 3, i think ur talkin about the "small dc to large dc" question

the papers are sent to CIE. U cannot be informed about the correction of the papers as the information is confidential. SImply wait for mid-jan.
