Can anybody provide some notes on shear and stretch?
-
I can make some notes. Is it for a level?
-
No IGCSE
-
Ok. Will do.
-
There were loads of these notes made in may/june, we can just copy paste here :D
-
I wrote these note. They are under a level physics. Tell me if you want some more.

thank u very much for the help but these notes are not what i need. in shear and stretch, there is an invariant and how to take out the scale factor, etc. so plz help me asap as i hav my exam in this oct/nov 09 session.

hey :)
i dont really have any notes i can give you but i can try and explain it to you...
In a Stretch: the points move at right angles to the invariant line
there are 2 basic transformation matrix for the stretch
1.) when the x-axis is the invariant line - [0 K] where k is the scale factor
[1 0]
2.) when the y-axis is the invariant line [0 1] where K is again the scale factor
[K 0]
In a Shear: the points move parallel to the invariant line
there are also 2 basic transformation matrix for the shear
1.) when the x-axis is the invariant line - [1 K]
[0 1]
2.) when the y-axis is the invariant line - [1 0]
[K 1]
-
oh by the way,
*NB: the invariant line is the line about which the transformation takes place such that points on the line remain FIXED or (do not move)
the difference between a shear and a strtch is quite easy to see, as a shear will really distort the original image, a stretch will just err... stretch it? lol
anyways hope that helped! ;D

I have done a pnother page of notes on this and will put them up tonight
-
Thanks shani, i got a lil bit of it but m w8ing fr ur notes astar.
-
I will do maybe 6 pages of notes today, and will keep doing igcse maths and additional maths notes for a week or two.
-
plz try 2 complete d notes asap. i hav my exam on 28th october.
-
I hope to have them up within a week. Please make a list of the topics you want or I will write them as they occur to me.

which ones are u talking about vaibhav...... ???
and astar...can u please try and make notes on "components of a vector"....bt remember for igcse...plsss.....it'll be a gr8 help... :) :)
and hi mihir....welcome to d forum!!!! ;D

I meant I will have a complete set within a week, like I did for A level physics and gcse maths. I will put them up at the end of each day here: http://www.astarmathsandphysics.com/igcse_maths_notes_menu.html
