for kids of younger classes?
hell yeah!
we used to have exams from grade1.......its good to have exams since it gives u practice in endurance andalso tests all ur knowledge.........
but a negative point may be that there must b constant assessment of children or they realy dnt learn much and just learn by rote for final exams.
a combination of these should b taken..........oral quizzes class tests projects etc and then a final exam....thats the way to bring out the best in a child since then he tries hard to do well ALL YEAR ROUND :)

It was from grade 5 onwards for me :D

And I guess it's a good time to start....if kids in grade one have those written tests....they'd end up being nerds by grade 4.....kids need to enjoy...so interactive quizzes and games should be there for kids in grade one uptil grade 4...after which monthly tests should be conducted from grade five onwards....with major tests every mid...

But I think it's important...some of my frnds...actually most would disagree

i dunno
i dont exactly agree or disagree

yeah, there should be exams to force the kids to study

but, if i owned a school, i wouldnt let kids till grade 4 take any exams
i started my exams from grade 6
they barely want to go to school
& they should be tortured too ??
exams would make them hate the schools guts

I kinda share a similar view....i don't think there should be any exam for children below grade 4
After that...yes of course

ofcourse there should be. Why should my batchmates and I suffer alone with exams. The coming generation should experience the torture we faced.

yes there should be .. im with giving kids exams ..

without exams the teacher will not know the weaknesses and strenghths of the student .. whatever age the student is .. the teacher needs to know where he/she struggles so they can give more help ..

exams all the wayy!

(but maybe change CIE examiners :P)

years 1 - 5 is when the student is taught the basics .. they wil need exams at that age

many hate exams.  15-19 year old teens hate it too!
6-7 year old kids dont have exams in my school. They have class tests. They arent pressurized much. Many enjoy it too. Its no harm.

True...

I didn't say no exams...but there should be an age limit

Otherwise when you die....this will what will be engraved -
Nid404
Studied from  age 1-30

People will die at a very young age if the start studying the day they are born

Learning can happen in an interactive way too.....exams r not the only option for younger kids

the interactive way of learning is the "in" thing now. Many schools have adapted this tecnique of effective and interactive learning. Though, it interests the pupils, it cant be used for difficult topics and higher age group students.

'the teacher needs to know where he/she struggles so they can give more help ..'

they could do that with simple tests

yeah, zainy most kids dont enjoy school
because they relate it to going somewhere new .. so, they prob. hate school from the 1st day ..

& u cant compare stuff tht u take n AS to what a kid in grade 1 takes
cuz to him, what he takes can also be hard .. hez just a kid

well me is not sure about that but...
i remember when i was a kid (27em 27em  8) ) its not the exams/quizzes/tests that worried me, its my parents' reactions that worried me....
Parents must think "oh we must be so great, we made our kids work hard for school! we're good parents!" well guess what, they aint
By the time IGs arrive, the kids would have been so used to the pressure put on exams they wouldn't care about them anymore, and when the IGs come, they would be trying to frustrate their parents and "torturing them back" than to get good grades
so yea the kids do need some sort of assessment to make sure they work, but the parents and teachers should remember that these tests are not make-or-break ones

exams are basically to check the level kids are upto.....they score good, well n good and that they're really understandin....kids who dont get well enough, must kno their weaknesses n grow up along so that they do something useful and productive in future....

Exams throughout the year keeps you in constant practice, which is necessary to perform well in the term/annual exams.

perfect homework and doing it regularly also makes it perfect not only by the exams
