Title: Pencil or pen
Post by: pedrojosetrujillo on July 11, 2009, 10:21:39 pm
IG my maths paper 2, i did a graph question i pen, do the graph questions have to be in pencil. I looked in the front cover and it said that they may pencil may be used. I take this as meaning that u have the option to use pencil, but are not completely obliged to. Do i lose all the marks for that question...

When they write this sentence it means you have to use a pencil -as my IGCSE co-ordinator told me- in CIE you use a pencil most of the time but in Edexcel you should ink it

Look i am almost certian, that they wont penalize me for this. If u dont remember on the fornt cover it doesnt say u have to use pencil, it says you may. This means its optional, u can eitheir choose to or not to.. In da examiners report nor on the markscheme does it say anything about loosing marks. Think about it, if u had to to do it in pencil, wouldnt they write, " All diagrams must be done in pencil"? However on the front cover it says " You may use a pencil for any diagrams or graphs." This is quoted directly, it doesnt say that u have to, it says that u have the option to do so..

well if it says may ... than u shud be safe ...

i just remember our invigilator saying ... donot use pens ... be carefull

Yeah but it clearly says may, so yeah. Da only reason they tell u becarefull is because if u do something wrong, then u cnt cross it out. Anyways it would be stupid if they gave u a 0 for doing a graph in pen, they're judging your mathematical skills not your equipemnt skills.

Im Not being a b*tch or anything, but i dont think you'll get the marks. it says you have to write in blue or black pen. In my case it said you may use a pen or a pencil, so maybe ill get by.. Man seriously who cares, you cant do anything about it and you only did it for one question right? So you only lose 1 mark and even if u lose more the paper is out of 105 i think.. so it wont make that much of a difference.... I did the same for the ict exam, but i remembered to ink it. I really think it very unprofessional of cambirdge to penalise u for this type of sh*t as long as u write an answer, u should get the makrs for it if its correct. Thabk god im taking Ib next year, im not taking a levels, i dont like the british system its too strict and fussy and stuff...

Yeah i was always talking about Igcse maths. A levels is not that well recognised over the world, only in england. You knw what annoyng ppl doing da american system dont have exams now, they only get to take sats, while we have to do Igcse and Ib, or Igcse and Alevels.
