Title: dropping subject~ what's ur opinion?
Post by: lala~ on June 12, 2009, 02:46:56 pm: i got to sit 4 a2 exam this oct/ nov...
due to lack of time, can u dear friends gv me any advice, should i drop my 4th subject? if yes, Biology or Physics?

i am planning to pursue my study in medicine and i need to get straight A's..

Post by: ta3loob on June 12, 2009, 04:28:50 pm: Well, 4 ALs are too much to take in nov. To say the truth, I didn't take bio but I took A2 phy. A2 phy is very hard and the syllabus is very long. However, some friends took A2 bio last nov and they scored "A"
All in all, you can probably take bio rather than phy and good luck :D

Post by: MaNi_DaDuDe on June 13, 2009, 08:30:48 pm: yeah. Bio is pure memorization and thus easier than physics which is relatively frustrating as you need to learn it and then apply it (calculations bs).

i forgot to tell u all that my a2 programme is only 1 semester~ meaning 1 only have 4 mnths left..

Which means you are kind of good in Physics. Also if you think you can score A in maths easily i highly recommend you to take the physics paper.
Also if you dont think that 4 papers are burden its best you take all the exams as you can get a second chance or lifeline.
I understood as if you would want 3 A's that means if you happen to miss an A in the first exam you still can hope to score A in 3 subjects.

im under the gov scholarshp.. the plan is to get me into med school in aus feb nxt yr.. thats why i cant repeat a2.. i can only repeat my As level..
mine is the 1.5 yrs prog

meaning that i got only 3+ mnths, with a lot of unstudied topics..

for this last semester, i need to prepare myself for for 4 med school interviews and a PQA test, for uni of adelaide..

if im doom this a level, it may end up repeating A2 with my own money.. bcoz only 2 of my local unis accept a levels.. hmm.. thanx for those responses.. hopefully there will be more opinions.. help me.. huhu

im sorry for the typo i made before.. it is medicine.. not chemistry..
probably because my head was full of worry 4 my as chemistry .. huhu

math is needed 4 most aus unis n physics is needed 4 all india's unis except manipal..

well u know.. u need to calculate how many pills u have to tell the patient to take everyday... and u need to count how many pills there are, and so much math its just too hard :P

Post by: lala~ on October 18, 2009, 04:48:26 am: yess.. its totally true.. alhamdulillah ive got conditional offer from jcu uni in australia.. they want me to get 2A's and a B AT LEAST including MATHS and CHEMISTRY.. india is my backup plan.. my seniors went to manipal bcuz they dont hv physics..

for those who want to apply 4 medicine or any other courses in any country, i recommend u to do some research at the uni website or visit ur agent.. its so easy, we hv internet rite.. just do a deep research so that u wont regret it later..

bout bio A2, i my opinion, if u love medicine, most probably u'll love bio.. ( except d plants paRts, mayb.. LOL)..
just do ur best in what u like..

to make it clear for all of u, the prerequisite subj is dependant on unis, even unis of the same country hv different subjects requirements.. that's why we hv to do some research 4 the unis we want to go.. for zzzzzainnyy, its good 4 u bcuz the unis u want to apply didn't require maths.. ALL of the students in my college who r taking alevel mdicine take up math bcoz we r targetting for australian and uk unis.. we have done our research for unis of our choice and hv already applied and attended some of the interviews..

so, to conclude, the subjects we need to take is dependant on which uni we are applyng.. alright people??
