Title: Specialism
Post by: astarmathsandphysics on October 08, 2008, 10:05:19 am
If you want to study a particular subject you must found what each university's strengths are. They specialise extremely. For example, Durham England is  best in Theoretical Physics, and it was Southampton's chemistry depatment that produced 3 nobel prizewinners before it was closed down.

maybe, but in the uk we have maths, physics and chemistry departments shutting down all the time because they can't get enough students.

I dnt understand all these:

research assessment - the  university is assessed for the quality of frontline research it's professors are doing and the results are published. The best reserch universities are frankly the best universities.
Entry stasndard - the grades you have to get to enter the university.
Graduate prospects - the sort of jobs that people get when they graduate and how much money they earn.

I think you would be at a disadvantage. You would not have the breadth you need for medicine if you slip a levels

here in kuwait many universities accept IGs..emi look try AUK (american university of kuwait) or ACK (australian college of kuwait) or GUST or AUM..all these universities doesnt want A levels..all they need is that u have tofel in english and if u dont have they can do u an acceptance test (if u get gd marks then theres no need to do tofel)

if u need to know more just pm!

hmm thats not true!! here in kuwait, nobody is treatly differently just because of nationality!! everyone has the same privileges and are respected as if they r living in there own country.cant argue about the fact that some do give others some hard time...but this is an exception...most people dont do that!!
