Chip and Pin basically refers to the money transfer made by credit

1)Chip is read
2) PersonalIdentityNumber is inserted to grant access to the chip
3) Money is taken out

To my knowledge this is what is correct
If you want clarification from a reliable source for any other topic concerning IT:

Is this IGCSE, CIE??
Title: Re: ICT....
Post by: sanity_master on May 18, 2009, 06:51:47 pm
yes it is......it is a simple new thing but its Q is for 6 marks i guess

u better check it::

the whole process::

1. insert the chip in the pin
2. write the original password
3. the pin will create a temporary password to be used one time only for a very short period of time
4. the temporary password will be written on the chip
5. give the chip to the cashier
6. he will put the card (with the chip) into a chip reader
7. the chip reader reads that there is a valid password
8. if it is valid it will contact the bank
9. the bank will check if the password is correct, if the card is report stolen.....and all the other routine checks
10. if its all alright....money will be transferred from the customers account to the market's account
11. the password is no invalid

this is pretty much it, hope i could help :)

PIN pad is the pad in which the Personal Identification Number is typed in (Numeric keypad) and the chip readers is the one that allows the data on the chip to be read. Its used in cash withdrawals as its the safest method.

The card is is inserted inside a chip and pin reader where the costumer will write the PIN using the numeric keypad then the PIN is compared with the one stored on the chip if correct and valid, it would connect to the bank and then it would be checked whether the costumer's bank account has sufficient funds or not if yes the transaction is carried , else the card is rejected

@sgvaibhav

Ans 1.) A software copyright is used to prevent unauthorised copying of their software.
Ans 2.)hacking involves someone taking control of your computer and its files without the user's permission. This is normally done when the system is connected to the internet or any other network. The hacker tries to  break the passwords to get onto the system, and if successfull will read files and steal information or try to destroy the system.

ans3.) Computers need to be protected from these attacks. One way is to use passwords, but another is to allow access to a system only through a computer that is not used for anything else; this is a firewall and should stop anyone who is not authorised gaining access. Another method is by using a secret code. This is called encryption and the files are set to have been encrypted.

hope it answered your questions.//  :)
