Title: What to do =/
Post by: The Golden Girl =D on March 10, 2012, 12:43:37 pm
I did Chemistry and Physics Unit 4 in Jan as well as C3 , will do C4 M2 as well as Unit 5 and 6 for both physics and chemistry in June.

My results are :

C3 : 70/100  B

Chem unit4 : 72/120  B

Physics Unit4 :  not worth  mentioning

I'll be repeating Physics Unit 4 in June inshAllah so I'll need advice on how to study and how to prepare ..etc.

I need your advice on whether I should repeat C3 or it would just be a extra load ? cuz people usually really mess up in M2 ,that's what I heard at least ( I find it hard tbh)

Reply ASAP cuz I'll be applying for the June session  by Thursday =/

Note : For those of you who know any good Physics  teacher in Abu Dhabi (UAE) ,then please send me a message to my inbox (PM)

Thanks in Advance Jazakom Alla khair :)

Salaam sis.

I'd like to stress on the most important thing. Do not feel disheartened. :)
These exams come and go, just have faith and trust in God. InshaAllah khair. :D

I'd suggest repeating C3, 90% and above is required in C3 and C4 in order to get an A* and your aim must be high. Math requires non-stop practice and that's what you should be doing. My friend got an A in C3 and she didn't repeat so she ended up with a B.
So, focus on improving on C3 and C4 mainly. :)

As for Chemistry, everything in each unit is a repeat of the same basic concept. Since you'll be giving Unit 5 and Unit 6. Might as well give Unit 4. You have a practice on how the paper will be. So, just do it.

Physics Unit 4 isn't hard but it's quite tricky. Thorough revision and practice is required for it.

For Chemistry and Physics, I'd say keep reading the text book until you have the concepts stamped into your head. It won't be easy but you can do it, I am sure of it.

So, henceforth ... I'd suggest you repeat them all. Aim high and work hard and stay focused , you can do it.

May Allah (SWT) make this easier for you and keep you strong, InshaAllah! :D

Good luck, sweetheart. :)

Mar7aba sadeekti..

I prefer if you do have a look at your results for C1 and C2.. Sum them up with C3.. See how much you are far from an A by looking at the grade boundaries for the whole maths mark that would be summed up.. I totally forgot what that is called..

But I don't see you need to worry at all.. B is a good mark, what are you planning to study?

Mar7abteen :)

I didn't get you =/

Business or Engineering not sure yet (will probably apply for second semester of college so it's not a big deal at the moment)

Where do you plan to study? Do you need three full A-Levels?

I mean the "Cash-in" boundary marks, which means the sum of all the units you took in each subject, which is summed up and transferred into an A,B,C...etc when you finish all your units at the end of A-levels

For Maths, the total mark will be out of 600, for January 2012 cash in, an A was awarded for people who took 480/600 and above, 420/600 for a B, and 360/600 for a C

If you try to see how many marks you lost from all your maths subjects you examined, and try to figure if you are near the range of the mark you want.

Please check the link Here (http://www.edexcel.com/iwantto/I%20want%20to%20%20Tasks/1201%20GCE%20Cash-in%20Grade%20Boundaries%20%28Home%20Int%29.pdf)

And I suggest you go check and see if your units marks how far they are from the mark you want by checking the "units" grade boundaries.

Here (http://www.edexcel.com/iwantto/I%20want%20to%20%20Tasks/1201%20GCE%20Unit%20UM%20Boundaries.pdf)

I can see the your C3 mark is the last mark for a B, I guess you can improve it by re-taking it. But it all also depends on your other marks in C1,C2...etc

Hi GG,

What text do you use for Edexcel A2 Physics? The Miles Hudson book is very unhelpful. You know any good book(s)?

What about Edexcel endorsed book?

The Edexcel endorsed book is written by Miles Hudson. It doesn't help me much. Have you got the actual Hodder Education book?

But I haven't got it. Have you got an electronic version of it or the actual copy?
Thanks for the suggestion By the way.

The actual one ( if you have Al-mutanabee bookstore) where you live you might find it :)

Don't work yourself up for it , you can search for other books ;)

I have got the Edexcel endorsed text and revision guide - the text is very unhelpful but the revision guide is fine. I haven't got the CGP guide or the Hodder Education book. What is the other revision guide that you mentioned?

At the moment, I want the Hodder Education book since I have heard from many that it helps. Ordering it from the UK through my local bookshop would take 4-6 weeks time and the delivery charges + bookshop charges apply. Have you got the hodder edu text?

Oh yes, there's an Al-Mutanabbee store nearby. I will have a look there. Thanks.
