Title: a little Maths problem(paper4)

I am confused about the question on paper4 nov/oct 2006 question4
I have finished question C ,But i cannot write question D to F
Can any1 help me ?Just tell me how to do with following questions

The solution is attached.

I haven't done part f(ii), because I can only solve it by using derivatives. The graphical method of finding gradient is explained in the book.
