Salam y'all =]
Physics Unit 4 in Edexcel is so hard (just finished my Mock exam) and I'm thinking of dropping it. The thing is I did AS physics , AS Chem and AS Math all Edexcel ONLY ! and I need to have THREE A levels to get into the University I've wanted to study at. so What do you suggest I do ? I'm most prolly gonna take the THIRD A level as a Private Candidate as in self study.
I took IGCSE => Bio , phy , chem ,math, ESL and Sociology ONLY!
So I'm tryin to keep my options Open.
Option #1 => Edexcel A level Arabic is VERY Easy or at least my classmates who did it in AS got an A and said it's VERY Easy.
Option #2 => Edexcel Sociology , but I've no clue about it (most prolly gonna do it on my OWN..the whole thing*gulp* )
Option # 3 => English A level ?
Option # 4 => I'd like to hear your suggestions because these are my Options so far.
I'm talking about the June session here,because I already paid for Unit 4 exam (doing it in THIS Jan) + I ain't too sure about this decision. I was going to do Unit 5 and 6 in June but now that I see I can't survive Unit 4 ,then how can I possibly survive Engineering =,=

Ah, so you'll have an AS and A2 in Chem, Bio and maths right?
Sociology is wyked. I suggest you take it if you want to drop Physics.
It's pretty simple, lots of reading and lots of essay which aren't too bad.
Yeah that was you'll have 4 A levels and 1 AS?

so it's easy? I can do it on MY OWN , no need for a teacher ? cuz I'll be the ONLY one in my entire school to do that :S
I'll be doing 2 A levels (A2 math and A2 chemistry ) and A level Sociology (AS and A2 , didn't decide which board though).

Oh.. is that enough? Over here they prefer 3 A levels and 1 AS minimum :/
I would think so- you might decide to have an online tutor perhaps? to help you with things like tacking exam questions or structuring an essay.
I did OCR which I quite enjoyed and found pretty straightforward. But, I did not study alone- it was a subject in school so I'm unsure how you might find it alone.
Have a look at the past papers. Generally people say Edexcel is easier. I know for psychology edexcel is easier than OCR, but ocr was quite alright for sociology. Alhamdulilah.
Also, I suggest you make istikhara before making the decision. ;)

I would suggest that if you are sitting the Jan exam anyway then don't drop it now.
Give the exam and see if you get a good grade.
If you really want to drop it then I can't tell which subject to choose 'cause I never took Sociology or Arabic
For me, it would have been easier to continue physics rather than taking a whole new subject.

GG, from my personal experience ... I found Unit 4 much harder than Unit 5, so don't judge A2 Physics just based on Unit 4. ;)
It's not really difficult to be honest ... unless you 'enjoy' what you are studying.
If you've grasped the concepts well then move on to old and new past papers. It requires lots of practice.

May i know whether u hve studied unit 4 physics completely and have u done any pastpapers under unit 4 Physics??? if u hve done. pls dont drop unit 4 physics. Becoz when u do engineering , it needs knowledge from physics. if u do physics, only then u will use ur brain well to do further studies well. Physics is one of the best science required to improve ur brain memory and other benefits as well. Dont drop physics. I am telling for ur won gud. Even my cousin sister, she wants to drop physics, since it was very difficult for her to asnwer differnt types of questions. But her mother went and asked her doctor, whom she knows that doctor very well and has told , that my cousin sister shuldnt drop phyiscs, but this will be needed for ur future.
And also since u have paid for unit 4 , 5 and 6 exam in Jan. Pls do it as wat angl31 said. If u cnt do unit 4, becoz u are uncomfortable due to lack of practising pastpaper or other stuffs, u cn postpone this into May, insha allah u willl hve sufficient time to practice alot. Physics wants u to think only n nothing else. If u use ur brain well carefully, u cn manage with Physics easily. u must get interested of physics. Dont drop and then do whole subject like Sociology and Arabic again by self teaching. It is like u r burdening urself. Pls clam down and do physics with interest and enjoy it. Finally u will love physics. Insha ALlah i will pray for u, that u will never drop physics. Insha Allah. If u find difficult in physics, dont lose ur hope and then do something else. Try ur best to overcome and that is best challenge of all. try ur effort as much as u can. Insha Allah very soon u will be able to do physics well. Ameen
dear golden girl, tel me what difficulties u hve in physics, thaty u cme to conclusion to drop physics?? wat difficulties and why??? i think , maybe u find hard due to very difficult to answer unit 4 physics exam paper?? tel me what is ur main problem with unit 4 physics??

it's just a trial and every subject has a paper which we all hate it so it maybe unit 4 phy unit 5 chem , m1 or S1(for As-level students like me )

Edexcel A2 Physics Unit 4 has only 3 topics - just read ur textbook and understand the key concepts. Practice the worked example questions and the other in-text and end-of-topic questions as well.
Concentrate on each topic seperately and ask ur teachers for help. It's easy really - u r a physics girl, ryt? so u must b loving it.
MAY ALLAH SUBHANA WA TA'ALA GUIDE US ALL IN THE RIGHT PATH. AMEEN.

@ SZM: Arabic/Sociology aren't "Good" Subjects (like if I go for Business or smthn they aren't really that helpful) perhaps that's why he said that she shouldn't drop Physics.
I'll do loads of practice in the Winter break inshAllah =]

I think so too. Last year I hated Unit 1 chem lol so I guess this year it's unit 4 phy ::)

hi! dropping might be a sensible idea if you are in your first few months of alevels. if the subject doesn't appeals you at all then go for it. or maybe you should try your best and try your heart out in the subject. its not that hard. a well planned focused approach can get you A grades easily.

well best of luck for the resit. sometimes u just need drive and motivation to refocus and then it might turn out good for you in the 2nd attempt... May God pass us all with good grades in exams. :)
