Anyone who got an idea of how to get a good mark in Biology Paper 6, please post it over here.
-
i have got no special ideas
just gonnu do past paps ::)
-
Is it enough? I mean we need to revise right?

i think the time is less n past paps r 2 gud revision
-
And the most important topics everyone should revise before the exam? What do you thinK?
-
Lol alright sweetsh,
what you need to study is..
enzymes
classification
eye and pupil reflexes
tropic and taxic response
food tests
cellular organisation
photosynthesis
plant reproduction
and u need to know how to make a scale drawing..
(make a box on the drawing they ask u to enlarge)
measure the sides and times by watever e.g 1.5 or 2.. as the space is provided..
and copy exactly as in the box in the drawing they give you..
you need to do bar charts histograms and line graphs..
finding averages..
all the basic p6 science stuff..
good luck :)

Thank you, its not for me for anybody who needs help, I know almost all of these things.
-
Oh well its like 99% of all u need to know (1% surprise like always)
My teacher put these topics together and said itl only be them for that paper..
But theres always an A* 6 mark question for an experiment which you cant study for really.. the only way you can practice it is by doin papers..

bio is the only science where you cannot expect the type of questions that are going to come in paper 6. I find it the hardest science of all.
-
The hardest paper 6 is bio
The hardest paper 3 is physics
The hardest paper 1 is chemistry
The easiest p6 is physics
The easiest p3 is chem
The easiest paper 1 is bio ::)
-
EXACTLY!

u must be kidding about p3 chemistry, i find it the hardest, p3 bio should be in its place :)
-
Ah yes! I didnt notice that, it is hard not so hard but not the easiest
-
tropic and taxic response
cellular organisation
can any one tell me about these 2 ?
-
Come on guys p3 chemsitry is usually easy..
Bio can get tricky sometimes.. cuz they look for specific answers..
and emi taxic and tropic response is the phototropism and geotropism and photo taxism .. ring a bell?
cellular organisation= the contents of the cell.. the labelling of the cell... and the sh*t with lower epidermus waxy cuticle..
and the red blood cell/ xylem vessel/ muscle tissue / ciliated cells..
all those u need to label and give their function..

what's it abt anyways?? Magnification??? I wud hav helped u if I'd hav understood. PLease let me know and I'll help asap.

its about drawing
sort of magnification [scale drawing]
they tell to draw a bigger diagram of a picture given.
so he gave tips
(make a box on the drawing they ask u to enlarge)
measure the sides and times by watever e.g 1.5 or 2.. as the space is provided..
and copy exactly as in the box in the drawing they give you..
but i do not understand how to use it
-
k. I've still not understood it very clearly but I'll just tell u what I think.
If they've given a picture....say of length 5cm and tell u it's to be 3X magnified, then u multiply the length (which u generally have to measure, they don't mention it) into 3. So u draw the magnified specimen of 15cm. If they give it the other way round. You divide it.
This is the formula for magnification- Observed size/Actual size

its about drawing
such as oct/nov 2004 paper 6, Q(2)(a)(i)
i tottaly suck in drawing, i cant draw properly, nor can i draw in proportion.
-
I cant do it as well, but got 2/4 in my mock exam, which I think a good one!

k....i think ur talkin' abt nov 2005 . So u just need to make a drawing that is larger than theirs. Just calculate the length of the cotyledon and in ur drawing make it larger.
In my paper the length is 9.5 cm and I've made the drawing with length 15cm. Then u need to follow the instructions. In this case magnification is 15/9.5= 1.6X(approx)
-
can u label it plz and scan or something
i tried googling but could not find an appropriate answer
need to know what is what.
-
ok got it,
just confused with radilcle and plumule now
u can describe in wrting

people need help on this question about drawing a tomato ,
page 6 Q2
Ive attached the paper just need help with the labeling i know where the pericarp and all is but I need help
ms says
seeds/placenta/pericarp/fruit wall;
(remains of) calyx/sepals/stalk/pedicel
where is the placenta????!?!?
and calyx?? pedical?? None of this is mentioned in Mary Jones and there's not even a diagram of the fruit in DG Mackean
Thanks in advance.

i dont know the answer, but if someone wants to answer, here is an idea
do printscreen, paste in paint, then draw lines and write the text

Placenta is the central part of the fruit. http://www.geochembio.com/IMG/tomato-fruit-anatomy.png
The sepals r collectively called calyx and pedicel is another name for the short stalk.
