Title: Edexcel A2 Doubts !
Post by: The Golden Girl =D on August 24, 2011, 09:03:36 pm
Okay I've noticed that for Physics A2 and Chem A2  ,We Only have about 2-3 Past Papers to Practice apart from the Exam Wizard.. Now What my Question is , is that ALL ? It's Not enough because the Exam Wizard is somewhat Old Syllabus and I want to be up to date with the NEW Syllabus. Will solving CIE Phy/Chem A level Past Papers help me ?

If you've done Edexcel A level Phy & Chem , then Can you give me some Tips and Advice and tell me how to Approach it,Please.

Thanks in Advance =]

This is the hardest question I have ever answered :P
(I myself had done physics only so can only suggest about it.)
Doing any papers will help cuz physics won't change as much. CIE physics and edexcel physics have many common topics so doing papers would rather help you. Now about the way edexcel is giving questions in the exam they have changed the paper pattern completely they are giving questions most related to every physics like the Old Syllabus Salters Hornor. I would suggest to do these question as they would help alot in the exam(link to papers below). Apart from papers a book which helped me alot was Hodder Education physics for A2. They have mentioned each and every topic in detail and they have made it interesting to read rather than the Edexcel book which is ten times worst than this. Well this is it.

~Physics:

-As Saadmannan mentioned, the Hodder Education textbook is excellent. The Edexcel published one is very brief and doesn't explain the topics properly.

-I suggest you use the Hodder Education endorsed book. They have lots of practice questions and I advice that it trains you well while doing the past papers.

-Use this the Exam Zone booklet here:

PS: The CIE papers won't be of much help since we have additional topics which is not there in CIE. ;) (plus, Edexcel doesn't have few topics CIE does)

~Chemistry:

-AQA papers will be helpful - similar question patterns.

-Imo, CIE papers were quite easy when I solved them ::) so I don't suggest you waste your time there plus our question pattern varies a lot.

-Philip Allan A2 Chemistry questions are useful but they don't have answers. >_<
I suggest you ask your teacher to mark them for you when you practice those.

Hope I helped. (:
