Hey there =]
1. English is a "Language" ,it isn't a subject that you "Study" for most of the time. In other Words , For Anyone in this world to have "Good English" , they have to Read a lot. What I meant by reading is reading English Books such as Novels ,you should also read English Newspapers and most Importantly watch the News in English. What I'd recommend is watch the "BBC World News" Channel ,if you don't watch TV much then simply just visit the BBC's website ;)
2. Since I haven't taken English in AS ,I can't really give you Advice of "How to Pass English AS" . But Here is what I think you should do , You should try to figure out what is The exact problem you have in English i.e. Why is it that you Flunk , Are you bad in Comprehension or is it Vocabulary that is you're weak point ? etc. so Find your flaw and try to fix it ;)
3.The easiest steps you could start with is :
Start talking in Proper English i.e. you should start typing FULL words around the forum *It's a Rule now by the way* , You should start talking with your friends in English rather than your mother-tongue language. You could also start reading which I've mentioned prior.
This won't be that helpful to you and that's why I'll talk to my friends so that they help you out inshAllah :)
Don't forget to include me in your Prayers ;D

Read, read, and read. Reading helps a lot in making your English better. You can also have a notebook in which you keep all the difficult words written there with their meaning, more like your own dictionary.
Also as Gigi suggested, try writing in the correct English when posting around the forum or even when chatting with anyone online. Try exercising the old Grammar lessons, because perhaps your Grammar might not be so good.
Lastly, practice loads of pastpapers and practice your writing skills even when you're having fun online.

Here are many English books you can download >> http://freebookspot.es/TopTen.aspx?Category_ID=149
And make sure you have a plan for the coming 2 months, giving some of your time daily to English.
Good Luck. =]

Read novels, watch movies, practice papers, improve your speaking skills.
I am going to sit for English Language in this series.

I am going to sit for English Language in this series.
I will also be sitting for English Language 8693 this november.
I think practicing would help a lot, try to write more and get it checked.
If you have an e-dictionary, type in that and it will tell you all your errors and how to solve them.

thanks a lot evry body

Your welcome! =]

Well..
First, is it English Language or English Literature?
For English language:
You need to speak english daily, read alot, learn new words, get to know the different writing techniques and the rules for grammar etc
For English Literature:
You need to read the novel thoroughly and understand it, get a study guide usually from Letts or York Notes, read the analysis..understand it, use it when you think it's what's being asked for in the question.
Just be careful, you can analyse things by yourself but YOU need to make sure it makes sense i.e it is based on some evidence, quote from the novel..

Everyone has most of the tips covered, but when picking your reading material, remember that it should be diverse and 'useful'. Don't read new-age novels like Confessions of a Shopaholic or Twilight. Albeit they're good stories, they use slang and colloquial expressions, and aren't so useful if you're upgrading your English. Read unabridged versions of novels by Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and similar authors. Underline difficult words and look up their meaning, and make it a point to use at least one difficult word in your day-to-day conversation. For instance, innocuous: it means harmless. Now, remember this word and whenever you get a chance, use it! It's an innocuous practice, in fact it has a lot of benefit! Unless you use it incorrectly, after all who said it's innocuous to kick a dog? :D
If you're not bookish, like me, watch a lot of English television. Preferably with subtitles. News broadcasts, drama series and movies are a fun and interesting way to improve your spoken English, as it helps you to grasp the accent and also can add to your vocabulary.
Lastly, there are a lot of grammar and vocabulary quizzes online. Like http://freerice.com/ where you can help poor children as you upgrade your vocabulary. Google some more and play these games regularly, and before you know it you have an A* English! <3 Best wishes.

Ah yes, I'd suggest novels by Jane Austen. They are fun to read but got good English there.
You can try reading Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Jane Eyre, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion and there is a sixth book for her.
They are all interesting novels, yet got good vocab.
However, you MUST have a plan written down PLEASE. Without a plan being followed, I doubt you'll study much so make sure you make one. =]

thanks a lot every body ;D

Apart from all the extra reading and watching english sitcoms, read the endorsed CIE AS English book very well.
Make notes with a detailed list of examples. (Examples of Tones, Purpose, Genres, Audience etc.)
The most important thing in the commentary paper is to give an effect created on the reader.
Try to make a list for the various figures of speech and the effect created by 'em. Ofcourse, these may vary from the actual purpose of the figure of speech in few essays, but a general list should help you. Be sure to memorize them.
Examples
The writer uses long sentences ---Effect---> Wants to linger on the same idea/wants the audience to be fully absorbed.
Short sentences ---Effect--> The staccato effect arouses reader's curiosity. The aim is to hit home/jolt the reader into paying attention.
Use of repetition --Effect--> To build up interest/to make the sentence sound poetic/to attract the reader's attention.
Rhetorical Question ---Effect--> It's simply a reshaped statement to give it emphasis.
Many of these are from the Book itself. As I told you earlier, it's the best guide you can follow.
Try to make notes of your own (similar to the above if you want). Read the numerous examples of commentaries given in the book
and pick out the effects written.
Be sure to include the writer's genre, the tone of the writer, the audience and the overview of the passage in the first paragraph. That should fetch you some marks instantly. Also, pay close attention to the punctuations used, you should find something on punctuations and its effects in the book too.
Here are some more examples of effects created by different figures of speech.
Contrast - To create a mixture of different attitudes in the reader's mind/ To puzzle the audience
Hyperbole - To draw attention and amuse/shock/impress the reader
Pun - Again, to amuse the reader/create a light atmosphere.
Colon (Punctuation) - sets up an expectation
[A common effect for all can be 'to sound poetic/attractive']
Good luck, hope you do extremely well this time!

The genre is speech .The writer purpose is to draw attentions of the citizen to know the the rights of the women and how important they are .the writer has adapted a very serious and motivational tone throughout the passage .the writer has directed towards the audience who are well educated and can help to fight for their rights and a wide class of people .
the openeing sentence of paragraph itself potrays the theme of the passage quite well .In line 4 and 5 comas are used to show the effect and various professions women are into and also speakers trys to motivate audience that women are now in every field
