Hey Everyone :)
Well I was wondering the other day I take a lot of pictures when I go out with my friends and we want to share it together on Facebook so what we do is put some Privacy settings and tag ourselves , Example: Those pictures I'm tagged in can't be viewed even by my real sisters.
But the thing is many times I hear my parents say don't upload pictures on Facebook ,it's not good , you don't know how many Stalkers/Creeps/Weirdos are out there watching "YOUR" pictures. Well that's why I don't add people I don't know on my Facebook and those who I don't want to share my Pictures with , I just simply apply certain Privacy settings and that's all it takes and they don't even know I uploaded some pictures in the first place/got tagged in my friend's pictures in the first place.
I'd like to see what "YOUR" opinion is because I'm tired of listening to creepy stories and not having to share my good memories with my friends because of a bunch of freaks.
Thanks =]

I agree with your parents even though we can have all those privacy settings but still in my opinion FB or any other social networking website isn't "that" safe. I have seen and heard cases where someone close to you would hack your fb and take your pictures and stuff or they would hack your friends profile and they would get hold of your pictures too. (yes it happened)
Me and my friends usually email the pictures to each other and few of my friends even delete them from emails and save them on a personal flash or something. Although I think email is quite safe
If you ask me I would never upload my pictures on fb until and unless I am dead sure that there is NO One in my profile who I dont want to share my pictures with. Maybe I sound like a freak :P but I have seen such cases so I perfer not to take that risk.

I have more than one friend who got their facebooks accounts hacked and they just had to make a new account asking all their friends to report their hacked FB account.
I got another friend also who had her facebook account full of pictures, she had many boys/girls in her friends lists and then one of her friends take revenge of her by making a new fb account with her name and adding all the pictures she added in her real facebook account (by saving the picture to his/her computer then uploading them to the fake account) pretending to be her, posting and saying unbelievable things.
I am not a person who freaks out from social networks and stuff but seriously I got MANY friends who get their facebook hacked.
As also what Angel said above that someone might get control of those pictures. Once you upload a picture on FB, it is no longer of your control as it belongs to FB now. Even if you delete it later on it would still be saved in FB itself.
I uploaded 3 different pictures of me 3 times and even if you control the privacy settings and all, what you are controlling is ONLY that other people don't click on your photo and read the comments but they can still view your picture and not only them every random person who is not your friend can view your picture if it is added as a profile picture but of course not if you posted as wall photo.
Any ways the 3 times I added my pictures in I started getting pokes and friend requests for TOTAL RANDOM STRANGERS! :o Then I thought about it once again logically..it is like you are posing and letting the man stare at you for how long as he wants. Don't you just hate it when some sick people keep staring you while walking in the street? Well, by putting your picture on FB..you are just saying to them ' HERE, STARE AT HOW PRETTY I AM :P' lol but that only applies in three cases if 1) You have guys in your list, 2) You added the picture as a profile picture and 3) You didn't add the picture as a profile pic or have guys in your list but tagged your friends in the picture and your friends had other guys who would view the picture.
Yeah, that's pretty much it. =]

well it's very true that it isn't safe and one more thing is that now if you search your full name and write facebook in the end google images will show your pictures for preventing that too you need to change some seetings in the privacy settings so posting pictures on fb isn't that safe and if you have posted than you would rather customise it that only your friends can view it and as shoushou said if you have your friends in the pic and tag them than their friends too would be able to see you than you shouldn't tag yourself in your own pictures that way whoever's looking at the picture won't recognise you by your name and there are many more ways to put your pictures and still not worry about them

1. Set your privacy setting to max.
2. Remove friends whom you don't know.
3. In future, add friends discreetly and only who you know.
4. Upload any photos you want to be shared with your friends. No problem.

yeah stylish very simple ways to protect even that you keep checking your friend list once a month to just see if no unknown people are been added or anything :)

Thanks Everyone =]

I would also like to bring to light that Fb has recently announced a new face detection feature for tagging photos. Now people will be able to tag friends in photos without clicking on them in the photo (the computer identifies the person). So basically further threatens the privacy of people. Although you will still have control over the who can see the photos (by privacy settings) imaginue that if your acccount were hacked, people could be identified easily in any part of the world!! :-\
However Fb says that the system is secure ::)

I don't upload any personal photos on my FB. Firstly, if someone really needs to look at how gorgeous and beautiful and eye-catching I am ::), they probably know me in real life anyhow. Online friends are generally not to be trusted anyhow, and if you trust them so, send them a copy of the picture via email.
The problem with uploading pictures, with privacy settings on, is that it is not secure. Other than hackers, generally these pictures may be accessed by third party (remember when those applications ask for permission on facebook to use your photo album features, and you allow them) and hence, there's a door to them being leaked on the internet.
Also, sometimes settings override one another. I set photos tagged with my name to be only shown to a select group; the poster has tagged a gazillion people in it (like a group photo or sometimes people tag photos to bring attention to it) who may or may not be in my select lit. You think my settings would prevail or his tags? Of course, his tags. There goes my privacy in a jiffy.
Lastly, let's shine some light on perverts. No offense meant to anyone here, and this may sound blatant but let's state it: there are a bajillion people out on the internet looking for eye candy. And if they manage to leak into your profile, especially if you're a chick, you're becoming their source of carnal satisfaction. Which I'm sure no one likes, especially if the perv is ugly and grizzly and has a gun. ::) Also, your pictures are then property of just anyone, who could stalk you even if you never met him in real life, post them on inappropriate websites or manipulate them into inappropriate backdrops and videos. If any of this spreads (and we all know how great internet is at that) you're likely to be in a real fix.
So that's my viewpoint: upload your photos at your own risk. I'm quite paranoid in this aspect and if I wanna share my pictures, I just take my Android or laptop or whatever and see them with my friends. You shouldn't take my suggestion seriously if you want to hook up online, I suppose ;)

Girls shouldn't post their pictures on social networks, email (if you have strangers) or any other website. <--- My opinion.
one more thing to add, you don't know who is using your friend's account, what if they got hacked?
Do not add random applications on facebook, some are just fake, without knowing, you give permission to the application to post on your OWN wall, friend's wall, comment on pictures (not good comments :/ ) etc.

ya Allah ... Hmm this freaked me out to be honest but you know what I'll share those Photots via USB or perhaps my e-mail and delete them later like angel said ..
Thanks you for sharing YOUR Opinion ;D

to avoid unwated staring at your pictures, follow my guide
Guide to Avoid unwated staring at your pics:
1- find all your cameras, put them togther in a box, and your mobile too if it has camera. Web cams are also included.
2- Destroy the box!! by doing this you will eliminate your cameras.
3- Format your hard disk, all pictures will be delted. Hackers won't find pictures if they gain access to your PC.
4- Tell your friends to do the same.
5- wooot, no pictures!! :P

Well, one of my friend's fb pic got stolen and then it was put on some porn site. It was done by one of my friend's ex-school friend. It can be really disturbing fer a girl. So it's better to keep yer pics in yer lappy/PC than on some stewpid site.
