Title: A Piece of cake question
Post by: SauD~ on May 08, 2011, 04:09:53 pm: Need help for part b.. i got 960m after recalculating but a friend of mine says we have to find area of the whole triangle, he included that he saw it in the mark scheme. Can you help me by telling whether 960m is correct or the area of the whole triangle?

(40*12) + (0.5 *10 *24) + (0.5*30*24)

= 480+120+360
= 960

master, isnt it supposed to be distance travelled by CAR while it was travelling FASTER than the truck?
could u please explain your answer?

See the graph and check for line of CAR. While it is above the straight line of TRUCK. Find the area under that part while the Straight line is below those inclines and declines.
