Title: SATs after IGCSE's
Post by: CookieDoughMonster on April 02, 2011, 11:10:49 pm
Hey,
I am not sure if this question has been asked here, and it probably has, but I wanted to know if taking SAT examinations would be possible for me after doing the IGCSE's.
Right now I am in grade 10, and I shall be doing my IGCSE's in May/June and have recently been thinking of also doing the SAT exam.
Will it be like super hard for me, or easier than the IG's?
And if I do want to do it, when do you think would be the most appropiate session?
And it would be nice if I could possibly be given an overview on the SATs, since most sited I have visited concerning it are not the most informative.
The help would be MUCH appreciated!
Thanks
 :)

SAT 1 is no problem. You can do it any time after your IGCSEs.

However, the mathematics section in the SAT1 may pose a problem since there are a few simple A Level concepts.

You might consider going for some tutoring.

However, you can forget about doing your SAT II until after, at least, your AS Level exams. Thats becuase there are a few things (especially in physics and maths) that demand A Level knowledge.

I would advise you giving the SATs after the IGCSE exams. and SAT II after the A2 examination.

Hi Cookie Dough Monster,

I gave my SAT 1 before my IGCSEs, although I was studying for them, and I got around 1600 on it, with about 620 in the Math section. I don't remember encountering any things in Math that I hadn't covered in my IGCSE syllabus. However, you might want to improve your vocab more for the CR & Writing sections.

Best of luck!
