Title: What would happen if red blood cells were placed in water?
Post by: NotAbod on March 17, 2011, 01:52:48 pm
What would happen if red blood cells were placed in water for five hours?
will they become turgid? if yes then why?
will they burst? if yes then why?

they will burst
because, as the red blood cell is placed in water
water starts moving in because of osmosis
and the cell starts increasing in size
however, unlike plant cells, they do not have cell walls
therefore they will burst.

hope that answers ur question m8:D
