Suck back would basically mean the back flow of a substance.

In that experiment gas is collected over water. If heating is stopped before the delivery tube is removed from the water -the water will rise up the delivery tube as the pressure in the reaction tube decreases(since it cools). The water can flow back/can be sucked back into the hot boiling tube causing it to crack - an explosion might occur.

Hope this helps

Take care and good luck  :D
