Title: Mechanics 2 question
Post by: tmisterr on January 16, 2011, 09:31:18 am
I've done this question before but now that i retry it, i can't seem to get it right!!

An elastic band is made of material with modulus of elasticity 2N. The natural length of the band is 12cm, and a luck mascot of weight 10N hangs from it. The band is supported in two ways:
a) From a single peg
b) looped over two pegs at the same level 12 cm apart

In each case, find how far the point of attachment of the mascot is below the peg(s) when it is in equilibrium.
