LimeWire, one of the world's most popular peer-to-peer filesharing websites, has been shut down after a four-year legal battle with the US music industry.
LimeWire, a peer-to-peer trading network that enabled users to swap files containing albums and other data, was hit with an injunction this week after a four-year battle with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The ruling, issued by officials at the US District Court in New York, orders LimeWire bosses to disable the website's searching, downloading, uploading and file-trading functions.
Users who log on are now met with a message reading: "This is an official notice that LimeWire is under a court ordered injunction to stop distributing and supporting its file-sharing software."

but, are you willing to pay for songs?

No, it actually sucked. Just about every second file was porn material in hiding and/or riddled with viruses.
The internet has progressed since limewire, Kazaa and Ares.
Torrents rule !

But, many people used it; and it was easy to download file using limewire rather than searching for it (for those who aren't good at torrents)
Torrents rule !
No doubt in that! 8) 8)

Easy to download... true. But I dont want my mother walking in at the same time when I open up a 'music file' that's actually a p**n clip in hiding.
So yeah.... Limewire can go and die for all I care.
The more important thing is that this sets a precedent for other sites like Demonoid to be shut down or even Pirate Bay.

Who has been censoring the word porn ?
OMG...

Yeah, I just noticed that too. I think its not in the list of the words that are to be censored. ::) I'll check again. 8)

I checked it and its not in the list so that means someone has been censoring the word 'porn' for you... :D :D

Actually I removed it from the list of censored words. I dont feel it needs to be censored.

Okay... ::)
What ? :P
It may be a bad thing, but it isnt exactly offensive. Smoking is a bad thing, but it isnt censored : That is the word 'smoking'. So yeah....

yeah! that's true too. but you should check the file detail before downloading them. ;)
you've experienced that? ::)
so, it's actually good for the recording companies; they have one less problem.
Of they, close down all of that, we are gonna be in loss! :P
and also beemp3 and other music downloading websites (i have listed them in my other thread, we'll need them now, since limewire is off.)
hey, read this...
EXPLICIT CONTENT! :P

I doubt a person who uploads a music clip thats actually a porn clip is gonna describe it in file details ;)
Thats why torrents rock : people can comment on the file and tell you what its really like.
-
yeah, the person won't add anything in description, but don't you get to know the size? ;)
