HELP
I HAVE MATH PAPER 2 TOMORROW
AND I AM UNABLE TO DO THESE QUESTIONS

Math, Paper 2:

M/j 2006 Q 14, 26
O/N 2007 No 15
O/N 2008 no 17

O/N 2008 no 17

a) i) Basically it's asking \vec{OA}.  So -3\mathbf{p} - 2\mathbf{q}.

ii) Applying the same principle, -3\mathbf{p} + 4\mathbf{q}.

    iii) -3\mathbf{p} + 4q - \mathbf{p} - 4\mathbf{q}, which simplifies to -4\mathbf{p}.

O/N 2007 No 15

a) We know that \mathbf{a} essentially has 6 units, so \frac{1}{3} of 6 is 2, so \frac{1}{3}\mathbf{a} is 2 units 'up' \vec{OA}.  Similarly, \mathbf{b} has 6 units, so \frac{2}{3} of 6 is 4, so \frac{2}{3}\mathbf{b} is 4 units along direction \vec{OB}.  Answer attached.

b) Applying the same principle, then \vec{OE} is \frac{1}{2}\mathbf{a} + \frac{1}{3}\mathbf{b}.

c) Same principle, but now going in -\mathbf{a} direction, so -\frac{1}{2}\mathbf{a} + \frac{2}{3}\mathbf{b}.

Hope that clears up your doubt! 8)

first read this:

https://studentforums.biz/math-147/transformation-martices-igcse/ (Reply 2)

M/J 2003 Q 17

in (A) you have to draw the shear, i.e the point (0,2) should map onto point (3,2).
in (b)(i) you have to stretch the shear at the given point. This is one way stretch, know the matrix from the site above.
in (b)(ii) you have to write the matrix of the stretch (Before that look at the above site).

M/J 2006 Q 14, 26

(14)(a) 44 : 32 = 11 : 8, i.e 1.375 . This is increased by 5 : 4, i.e 1.25.
Therefore, 44 * 1.25 = 55 and 32* 1.25 = 40.

Therefore measurements of the larger screen is 55 cm and 40 cm.

(14)(b) Model A screen area     44 X 32      1408       16
            ----------------------- = --------- =  ------ = ------
            Model B screen area     55 X 40      2200        25

(26) Sorry but Q-26 does not exist.

Hope this was been of help. ;)

Don't worry.

That's wrong. :P

That is impossible, when are the other two having their flights? :P

And Galleria, note one thing, whole question papers is not changed, but some questions are changed plus, some of them will be swapped. That is the case of having different variants, worldwide. You have to follow the rules of the forum, if it's said after 24 hours, then after 24 hours only.

The same answers you will be having, perhaps even if you solve this question after few hours. :D

Have Patience. :D

Its not that a country does one variant. Thats wat i know, maybe that some schools may take 1 variant and others the 2 or 3.

I live in a very GIGANTIC country. VARY HUGE.

They live in different parts of the country. We're having a study sleepover. I've known them since years. We were in the same school once upon a time. They'll leave in a few. Wish them luck. ;)

We distinctively have a très rapid transportation here. VERY fast.

They can't take, didn't you see the time-table, so why will they have different time table for different zones? Galleria says right. Vin, what are you telling?

India has variant, (paper x2), like that others have different relevant to the time zones.

There are 5 zones :

2
3
4
5
6
.......

yea i saw, but u can see that both variants are in the time table.

So 1 school may take variant 1 and the other variant 2, the timetable will be different only for schools.

No man. If one country has multiple variants, there would be no point having variants at all.

Suppose I'm in China, where, according to you, follows variant 1 and 2. I'm doing 2

Suppose my friend is in the middle east, they're following variants 3 and 2. He too, is doing 2. Now, I can call him up and leak things.

^^So to avoid this, particular zones have the same variant.

Having multiple variants in the same country is practically futile.

No variant are two different except for the practicals in the AS/A Levels.

Vin you are the biggest dumb, instead you would have explained galleria with a different tone, style and manner. :P

Make parallel lines 3 cm away from the triangle, no?

You'd get a similar triangle to this one on the outside.
