hii guyz :)
i just wanted to ask u .. for paper 6 (biology, chemistry & physics) r we supposed to study everything from the book (all the chapters) or there is something specific?
wat type of experiments should we learn?
i would really appreciate ur help ;) .. thank you :D ...
-
i also want to know some stuff like .. for chem do we need to know organic chemistry for paper 6 or moles or other chapters like that ?? and for physics will there be radiation topic coming ? like those isotops and half lifes .. and if any other u guys know
-
my teacher told me that for sure in physics the radioactivity topic isn't coming. as for chemistry you have to and i mean you have to know the test for ions by heart (the precipitation reactions). i dunno about bio but i guess anything from the syllabus involving experiments may come.
-
Bio: there is always an accurate drawing(magnification) question. its harder 2 predict 4 bio. the questions arent usually repeated 4m year 2 year...sorry.
Chemistry: labeling apparatus, reading off thermometers/measuring cylinders, something related to electricity, drawing graphs and answering questions on rates of reaction, identifying cations/anions, and they usually throw in a random (sometimes related to acids+bases) question at the end.
Physics: basically experiments u would've carried out in class (not that we did many at my school) ;p
hope this helps ppl. n pls dnt only study the stuff i mentioned here, u neva know, those posh idiots up @ cambridge might decide 2 throw in sumthing extra just 2 piss us off. Good Luck every1!

hi
i badly need advice in attending the paper 6 of science....
ud u send me papers of them to my email??
and one more thng...wat does the chemistry paper 6 include??...cud u send them to mmy email as wel??
my email id is smack_kooldude12@yahoo.com
Thanks a lot for ur help
-
well i guess ican help u guys out ...
me and my friend sat and looked thru all the paper 6 years from 2003 to the latest and this is wat we got --
Physics :
1) measurement and errors
2) Circuits and symbols
3) Constand variable ( like if there is an experiment some variables are supposed to be constant wat are they and etc.)
4) Temperature
5) Mirrors and lens
6) Proportional
7) Latent and heat loss
8) Time - pendulum always asked
9) Variable resistor
10) Rate of cooling
Chemistry:
1) Apparatus
2) Rate of reaction
3) Graph
4) Experimental observation ( like the electrolysis quests. )
5) Identification of ions *** ( important )
6) Test for gas/ organic chemistry
7)Experimental improvement ( eg. if u need to change ONE experimental thing without changing the apparatus .. that kinda thing )
8) Experimental technique ( so far they asked crystallization, titration, test for catalyst, chromatography, pH and electroplating )
hope these help ... i dont have for bio cause i dont take it :)
-
thanks for the list amber. ;D
-
any time :) ;D
-
thanx amber & every1:D

one thng u can b sure about is that in P6's, no extended syllabus content comes 4 any of the sciences.
so 4 chem, 4 xample, da entire natural n synthetic polymers in da supplemnt, wont cum 4 P6.
-
how is the test for PH done ? in the experimental Techniques ?
and wat are the experimental improvements ?
-
u can test pH using litmus paper or universal indicator solution
improvements can be using a colorimeter (this is related to universal indicator)
or a more accurate way of measuring pH is using a pH meter
-
how is the test for PH done ? in the experimental Techniques ?
and wat are the experimental improvements ?
pH experiment is done by phenophalen or by methylorange ..... and experimental improvements are the questions like ..... eg: O/N 04 P6 Q4g) Suggest ONE change you could make to the apparatus used in the experiments to obtain more accurate reuslts
that whats experimental improvement is :D
-
I will post soon whats included in each science paper6
-
I think the best way to study for paper 6 exams is solving pastpapers because questions are always repeated .
Correct me if im wrong :) .
-
ur not wrong.....but u just need to revise some stuff as the cations/anions in chem and the apparatus.....just have a quick look at them
-
hey everyone jst look at 2006 Nov/Oct Physics paper 6 question 1 part (b)...
how to get the answer there >.> :-\ can someone help XD
-
Name the structures through which most of the solution will be absorbed into the
roots.
It asks how the root gets the solution, it will most likely be the root hair cells ... I think... :)
cuz everything diffuse thru these cells...

great help amber, but what did u mean by 'proportional'/"rate of cooling" in the physics p6?

sweetsh we are waiting for your post .. u said u'd post wats included in each paper ??
if u;ve got time :D

24.5/5
will give you the answer of circumference which is 4.9
by this u can go ahead with the II part of the Question

hey everyone
i have problem in solving the mirrors and glass question of paper 6 physics as i always get them wrong...any idea how can i correct those...or i dont knw the main concept behind it...if anyone can help me out it would be pretty good.
their was also a question i went through and had problems of measurement in physics paper 6 may/June 2008 on page 3 question 1 (b)
The cylinder completely covers the marks on the same rule. Describe, with the aid of a diagram, how you would judge that the centre of the cylinder is directly above the 10.0cm mark.

paper 6 physics 2006 nov question 2 part b....HOW TO SOLVE THT IDIOTIC QUESTION!
-
paper 6 physics 2006 nov question 2 part b....HOW TO SOLVE THT IDIOTIC QUESTION!
templar ... the t is the time of 10 oscillations
so the first one :
T = 18.35 / 10
T= 1.835
and so on for the other readings

perfect example for proportional is M/J 07 Q 3b and c
and rate of cooling is just an experimental technic .. related questions thats all :)
