dont worry u'll du gr8 .. look du as follows
~~~before writing the article or essay , first make a small plan (it wud just take 4-5 minutes , dont worry because it will save the time u might waste in cancelling sumpoints to stay in the world limit )
in the plan just jot down the points u have in mind that u r gonna write about in each paragraph
for example if ur gonna write about sports the framework of ur plan can b like this
1st para INTRODUCTION(where u can give a brief explaination about wut sport r and that they r crucial .. )
2nd para TYPES OF SPORTS
            >
            >
            >
3rd para ADVANTAGES OF PLAYING SPORTS
          >
          >
          >
          >
4th para PRECATIONS TO BE TAKEN WHILE PLAYING SPORTS
         >
         >
         >
         >
5th para CONCLUSION ( a few lines )
this is an example
~~~then for organising the number of words:
suppose the upper limit on the number of words is 200 .. divide this by the number of paragraphs(in this case we have 5) so in each para u'll write 40 words .. which wud b approximately 4 lines
NOTE : u can write less than 4 lines in 1 para and compramise it in another para

~~~ dont repeat the same vocabulary or adjectives more than once
u can use words with the same meaning but dont repeat the words
for example the word comfortable has the same meaning as cosy
the word important can be also said as "crucial"
 ~~~ when ur writing formal letters :
if u start with dear Sir/Madam .. end ur letter with Yours faithfully
if u start with a name end ur letter with Yours sincerely

THIS IS IT .. IF I REMEMBER ANYTHING ELSE I"LL TELL U
GOOD LUCK !!  ;)

Go for the narrative essays as they are the easiest and the most scoring. DO NOT go for argumentative essays. Put in local examples with explanation in brackets (examiners love that) and read the cambridge revision guide if you can. Plus, don't make ur essays too bizarre.

 I used the same formula and got 98% despite screwing up part 2! :P

 Oh yeah, keep the tone formal in part two. In part one formal if argumentative. In narrative you can use either.

The thing is that with narrative you have more room to manoeuvre. In argumentative you need very good organisation and  a lot of evidence to support your position and there's always the chance that you might offend the examiner. Thus, I suggest you go for the narrative. I didn't practice anything for it. The only essays I wrote were in my school exams and not all were narrative.

hmmm ya what the others said. but ya read story books. Thats actually what really helps you in writing. formats can only help you so far, but to give the examiner the right impression and an effective composition , its necessary to have a nice writing style, which is fluent and flowy. And ofcourse if you have problems with spelling, make sure that you watch out for them Thats about it. Oh yeah, good grammer helps..Though your don't really have to bother about it if it comes to you naturally. You are giving GCE CIE O-levels I presume? Me too...and best of luck mate. :D
