Anyone know why the answer is B not D? isnt beta just an electron?

Yes a beta particle is an electron. An electron is emmited
n>p++e-so the proton number goes up by one. The mass of proton and neutron are the same so the mass doesnt change. it is B

When Beta particle is emitted 1 neutron is split into 1 proton and one electron. Electron escapes and hence 1 proton is added and 1 neutron lost.
