Hi IG Girl,
I have the solutions for your questions
1) To indent, you must highlight the bullet points you want to indent and go to format then go to placeholder. Press the textbox and write 2 cm internal margin from the left.
2) And to make the first page different from the rest, press FILE then page setup. THen press layout and mark the box saying "Different first page".
I hope I said the right instructions and I hope you would all benefit from this information.

Good Luck

Here is a SUMMARY of all the topics found on this site especially this topic:
https://studentforums.biz/index.php/topic,670.120.html (https://studentforums.biz/index.php/topic,670.120.html)

-Paper 2 (May/June 2009) Tricks:
=========================
-MS Access:
*Reports summary you have to make a query from the table you made previously or so:
Firstly go to queries then create query by using design wizard after that select the desired field just as asked from the paper then click next, in the next step you will be asked whether you would like to create a detail or summary query, select summary, click summary options, tick the sum option for the particular field just as asked in the question paper that you will probably see on the left side of the box and for counting the number of fields tick the count option that you will see on the bottom of the left side, after everything has been done correctly click next and finish it n save the query.
In the next step you will be asked to export the data.
-For Word save it As .RTF
-For Graph/Chart package save it as .CSV

When you are making the report they will ask you to extract some dates from all of them.
In the criteria cell enter:

Between #1/1/2009# and #31/1/2009#

"there are total 3 spaces in the formula and write the dates in the correct format."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Word:
No header and footer on first page:
1) Go to file
2) Click on page setup
3) On the tabs click on layout
4) Under Headers and footers click on different first page
5) Set "from edge" margins to 0 cm

Your headers and footers will disappear on the first page.
===============================================
*Paper 3 (May/June 2009) Tricks:
===============================================
-Powerpoint:
1)How can we ident a bullet list in powerpoint (by 2 cm for example)
2)How can we make each page in ms word have a different layout??

1) To indent, you must highlight the bullet points you want to indent and go to format then go to placeholder. Press the text box and write 2 cm internal margin from the left.
2) And to make the first page different from the rest, press File>Page Setup>Layout and mark the box saying "Different first page".

-When making the pie chart:
You have to include the Percentage and Category Name
They will also ask you to slightly pull out the part with the most percentage from the rest of the pie chart:
1) Just press on the pie chart itself once
2) Then press on the largest part
3) Then Drag It
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Frontpage:
You will have to modify, they will give u the color (RGB) so u will go to format>style>modify>font>color>more colors>custom>enter the number they tell u for each colour (i think the color will turn purple)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Excel:
The formulas used are:
Sum If
Count If
Value Lookup
Calculate the Minutes & Hours by /60 and *60

Also download the other file, it includes the files which u will use in the external (paper 2 & 3)!

This is a paper 3 edit and an additional thing by evilzurg and ig boy!!

First of all, here are the files that are gonna be used in the external (paper 2 & 3):
http://www.box.net/shared/lpgljp1d1y (http://www.box.net/shared/lpgljp1d1y)

This will also help u in excel, http://www.box.net/shared/i3tf91jst0 (http://www.box.net/shared/i3tf91jst0)  (thanks to adeel)
This will help in Paper 2, http://www.box.net/shared/xth6rcdgvm (http://www.box.net/shared/xth6rcdgvm)    (thanks to shoaib)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download the first file, unzip it and open J9style1.css

In front page, they will ask you to:
let the Red and blue components in h1 h2 h3 h4 h5 remain the same, but ensure that there are no green components (The 3rd and 4th numbers in the codes become zero)
so:
h1           { color: #00AAAA; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 20pt; text-align: center }
it will become
h1           { color: #0000AA; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 20pt; text-align: center }
do this for h1 to h5

Now in the paragraph style, ensure that there is no red component and blue and green component is set to 50%
so:
p            { color: #00CCFF; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: left }
you change it to:
p            { color: rgb(0%, 50%, 50%); font-family: "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: left }
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In power point, you have to:
Indent a bullet list by (how much they tell you, for example 2 cm)

To indent, you must highlight the bullet points you want to indent and go to format then go to placeholder. Press the textbox and write 2 cm internal margin from the left.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In excel, open J9sheet.csv
The formulas used are:
Sum If
Count If
Value Lookup (from J9code.csv)
Calculate the Minutes & Hours by /60 and *60

so..

Webpage:
=VLOOKUP(B2,J9code.csv!$A$2:$B$12,2,0)

Total:
=SUMIF($B$11:$B$84,B2,$C$11:$C$84)

Hours:
=INT(C2/60)

Minutes:
either
=MOD(C2,60)
or
=C2-(D2*60)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And they are going to ask for a pie chart (dont really know were exactly), but:

When making the pie chart:
You have to include the Percentage and Category Name
They will also ask you to slightly pull out the part with the most percentage from the rest of the pie chart:
1) Just press on the pie chart itself once
2) Then press on the largest part
3) Then Drag It
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please someone can u give me paper 2... if u have it?? :)

Enjoy! TNas11
Title: SHOCKING ICT DOUBTS
Post by: SGVaibhav on April 12, 2009, 03:27:21 pm
I will be writing them down in points.

MICROSOFT WORD

(NOVEMBER 2004 PAPER 3)
DOUBT 1-
In question 41, they tell us
Place page breaks, if necessary, to ensure that:
• there are no widows
• there are no orphans
.
What are orphans and widows, and how do i do this question?

(NOVEMBER 2004 PAPER 3)
DOUBT 2-
In the first part, they tell us to put the date in the right side of the header, when the page orientation is landscape.
Now in integration, they tell to change this orientation to portrait, and when i do that, the date goes somewhere else.
while in the mark scheme, it still remains on the right, so DO I CHANGE IT OR LEAVE IT LIKE THAT? (im not shouting, just writing in caps to make it noticeable)

(JUNE 2008 PAPER 2)
DOUBT3-
Q10, they tell us to put the header and footer.
and in the markscheme, they check the position with exact millimeter.
How do we put the header in exact center, or right or in left alignment?

MICROSOFT EXCEL

(NOVEMBER 2004 PAPER 2)
DOUBT4-
In the first part of spreadsheet, they tell us to print the spreadsheet, but they do not tell us to put our name.
And they have not shown the presence of name in the mark scheme also.
But our teacher told that we have to put our name in whatever we print. Or else the paper will be torn and thrown in the dustbin.
-So do we print our name?
-If we do so where (header, footer etc.....)

MICROSOFT ACCESS

(NOVEMBER 2004 PAPER 3)
DOUBT5-
When they tell us to put our name in the footer, where do we put report footer or page footer?
here is the exact question.

Q23Produce a report which:has your name on the right in the footer.
and they have shown this in the markscheme
Name bottom right of report
Does not have to be at bottom of the page

-So what do i use, report footer or page footer?
-When to use report footer and when to use page footer?
My teacher told they are very particular about this.
I cannot ask my teacher now, because we have holidays and go to school directly on the day of exam.

U all over here are professionals.
Please help to solve my 5 SHOCKING ICT DOUBTS

M.W::

DOUBT 1-:
im not sure about the definitions but the way of doing it is easy...actually sometimes u dont do anything....just make sure that there is no single line from a paragraph on a separate page.....atleast 2 lines......in fact this Q nowadays will tell u : no table split on 2 pages, no bulleted list on 2 pages...etc.
SOOO, dont leave a line on its own, or split a table or a bulleted list on 2 pages, I.E : let everything be together :)

DOUBT 2-:
well, wtever happenes when u change the settings of anything. make sure that the final result is as they asked u, if they said to the right, then to the right, adjust it if u have to.

DOUBT 3-:
no no no, they dont measure it EXACT, it just needs to look center or right or left...they dont measure it UNLESS they ask u for a certain distance which (i think) didnt and wont happen.

M.E::

DOUBT 4-:
ur teacher is absolutely right, u have to put ur name on every page u r going to submit or else it will be history :).....and ur name is always in the header unless u r asked for another position.

M.A::

DOUBT 5-:
well my teacher said :" if the report is more than one page, put ur name in the page footer and leave the page number....if its one page, then remove the grey line at the bottom along with the date and number of pages....and ur name will be in the report footer"

;D ;D ;D Hope i was useful  ;D ;D ;D

doubt 2

the final result was for the printout before, and this problems happens after that (in integration)

doubt 3
they measure it exact, even though no distance is mentioned the question paper

doubt 5 was confusing

u were useful

on doubt 2 i guess it would be better if u wait for another one to answer it for u...i said wt i know

and about doubt 3...i never ever got graded for the header or wt is in it....u just center it, or make it on the right or left from the tool bar....but i dont know about measuring it....i never saw that happening

about doubt 5....if one page>>> name in report footer

we never ever practiced this part in school
omg.
Title: Re: IT quesrtion
Post by: Petal on April 13, 2009, 05:26:47 pm
No you don't HAVE to make a new address.
But its good to.

Because if you have too many unread mail, the email that CIE sends you may get lost in the pile of unread mail.
Also its quicker to load you inbox if there are only a few emails.

So just make one cos it makes life easier.
Make one in Hotmail, Google or Yahoo. Do something that you are familiar with.
Title: Re: IT quesrtion
Post by: sanity_master on April 17, 2009, 07:39:32 pm
he is right....and it will also be better if u got different e-mails on different websites......as yahoo, hotmail and gmail.

for me i got 3 on hotmail and one on yahoo......and they were all useful during the exam....

cuz maybe on website might crash or something.....so to be on the safe side make like 2 e-mails, on yahoo and hotmail  ;)

In front page, they will ask you to:
let the Red and blue components in h1 h2 h3 h4 h5 remain the same, but ensure that there are no green components (The 3rd and 4th numbers in the codes become zero)
so:
h1           { color: #00AAAA; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 20pt; text-align: center }
it will become
h1           { color: #0000AA; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 20pt; text-align: center }
do this for h1 to h5

Now in the paragraph style, ensure that there is no red component and blue and green component is set to 50%
so:
p            { color: #00CCFF; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: left }
you change it to:
p            { color: rgb(0%, 50%, 50%); font-family: "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: left }
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In power point, you have to:
Indent a bullet list by (how much they tell you, for example 2 cm)

To indent, you must highlight the bullet points you want to indent and go to format then go to placeholder. Press the textbox and write 2 cm internal margin from the left.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In excel, open J9sheet.csv
The formulas used are:
Sum If
Count If
Value Lookup (from J9code.csv)
Calculate the Minutes & Hours by /60 and *60

so..

Webpage:
=VLOOKUP(B2,J9code.csv!$A$2:$B$12,2,0)

Total:
=SUMIF($B$11:$B$84,B2,$C$11:$C$84)

Hours:
=INT(C2/60)

Minutes:
either
=MOD(C2,60)
or
=C2-(D2*60)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And they are going to ask for a pie chart (dont really know were exactly), but:

When making the pie chart:
You have to include the Percentage and Category Name
They will also ask you to slightly pull out the part with the most percentage from the rest of the pie chart:
1) Just press on the pie chart itself once
2) Then press on the largest part
3) Then Drag It
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please someone can u give me paper 2... if u have it?? :)

Enjoy! TNas11

its just tht whenever i import a file in access as the question paper tells me to , i end up with import errors. These import errors dont really do anything as ive completed entire papers without any hickup. But id just like to know how to avoid incurring them.
By the way im importing csv files

go to Control Panel Regional Options  and change the "current format" option to English ( united kingdom )
this will solve it .

 if not then try this

when you import your file, first time click next in the second one
when u choose the option " choose first row as field name "
then click the advance options button bellow then from the date format choose " dd/mm/yy"
if you are using office 2003 then u must have this option

or either you go to your Administrator account  from regional settings change the country from US english to  UK english

how do u do a pie chart in pwoerpoint ??

steps please :D

Title: Re: IT quesrtion
Post by: emi on April 20, 2009, 09:39:26 am
first of all in the Power Point when u want to make a chart :
Go to that slide and the click the chart button from the tools up  like this >>>

then you will get a Bar chart and a data filling space,  right click on the Chart and then choose chart type . Choose Pie chart and click ok . Now in the space where u will put your data information for the pie ,, remove everything thats there 'cause for pie u only need the first 2 rows. ( the first for the names the second for the numbers.)  like this >>>

when u do that u will get your chart, ofcourse u will have to modify it i mean make it bigger so it fills the whole white area and like that and make the text clearly visible and so on.

if you didnt follow any step your welcomed to ask =]

regarding paper 3.
2008 oct/nov.
Q24

(24) Save the presentation. Print the presentation showing all of the presenter notes.
For this question:

Do we print a screenshot?
or
We go to File-->Print-->Print What:-->Notes Pages

I am asking this, because in marksheme, they have given one mark for being correct, and one mark for being in the correct place.
And in the markscheme, it looks like a screenshot!
Title: Re: IT quesrtion
Post by: emi on April 20, 2009, 12:06:56 pm

Its exactly as Emi said. Dont print a screenshot, the mark scheme is not always right.

i was thinking about the web authorising part.

do we print screenshot, or do we print from browser?

because i face problems when i print directly, sometimes
when the background colour is black, it doesnt appear black in print and ...

so wat do we do?
screenshit or directly?

for every Web page you make they will ask you to Print 2 things
1) Print how it is viewed in your web  browsers : for this when u finish making the page in front page save the page and press F12 . go to file and then print . your first page will be too wide to appear in portrait page so change it into landscape . make sure your header and footer are there ( file - page setup - header and footer )

2) Print your web page Html Codes : in front page set the view option to code from the bottom and then click File >> Print . No need for header and footer here because once u set them it will always be there in Front Page

No need for screen shots at all in front page ,the only place u need screen shots are in sending mails , Acces , Power Point .

and no black backgrounds are there so no need to worry .

maybe there is a problem in your browser or printer settings . there is no such problem or tricks about this in the Question paper .
sry dont know the answer for that one .
