can anyone give me idea on this essay topic please? :)

I'm better at writing angst /sad stuff so I would probably have written about disappointment. May be you gave up everything to be with a person you love. So you're sitting alone and the only bright point in your life is that the love of your life will be with you soon. Smile as you remember all the good times you've had and how you think that everything you've sacrificed was worth being with this person. Get up to make a coffee or something (it could be your beloved's favourite brand if you really want to pull at the reader's heartstrings :P) and notice a letter poking out of your bag? Read letter. Cue tons of disappointment as you realise you've been duped (work out the finer details). Lament all you've lost.
^Too mushy/emotional? Maybe you just weren't accepted into your dream college ::)
Brainstorm and I'm sure you'll come up with something! (:

If you're not in for the disappointing genre (and seeing you're offline there's a chance you won't need an idea when you're back on, but whatever), there's a lot of happy things you can do. You could write about your receiving a call from your friend at the post office that your university application didn't get through and he coming home with the letter. When he'd come by and give you the letter you'd be surprised to see you've been accepted. You could also show that you or someone else comes across a suicidal note, elopement note or runaway note, only to find out the person changed their mind/was joking.

that i am deceived by a childhood friend.. We started business together n he took all the profit n just posted me a good bye letter that almost killed me... hmm... :D

i am dumb in english... Now, i am getting English tution also.. This whole month Sep is dedicted to English!!

For your IGCSEs you wont have the time to write a story/essay with such a complex plot.
Aim to keep it simple, use good vocabulary and build on a relatively simple plot.
Simplicity is the name of the game - you have a word limit of like 500 words max for Paper 3 for the creative writing section.
Everything else (Summarys, letters etc) need to be one and a half page to two pages long max.
An Examiner isnt going to correct anything beyond the word limit and excessively long scripts are PENALISED.

Complex plots can work though :) Use flashbacks and jump in time -- Earn marks for style along the way. But try and keep it simple if you're not confident with language.

@rickyponting66: I'd agree with Ari Ben Canaan--K.I.S.S. (Keep it short and simple). Your idea can be worked though and one way of doing that is flashbacks, like Dibss said.You could start either by showing the betrayed friend homeless and without a shelter, begging for money or involved in menial chores. Or, if you want it to be a little less dramatic you could just show him at an auction where his house and belongings are being sold out. Then he could recall how he had a friend Chappu (;D) who spent his entire childhood with him and you guys graduated from school and college and university together. But you were always better than him in studies. So he started a business with you and behind your back transferred all the money in his accounts and got the hell out of there. :D You could then come back to the present and have your main character open the letter which expresses the friend's grudge and jealousy for him.
Of course, this is one of the many approaches. It's a bit predictable and cliched in some areas, which I did on purpose so instead of just taking my idea you try to spice it up a bit. :) There are a gazillion approaches to this question, so try to think outside the box. In the examination, almost 50% of the candidates will opt for the first few ideas they get. About 35% would push to the third or fourth idea--and a small majority of 15% will pick an idea almost unthinkable. Your task is to ideally be the 15% BUT since you have a time constraint, the 35% slot works just fine. Remember: practice makes perfect. Reading magazines, journals and novels would also help you learn how to express yourself better and how to make redundant ideas pop out. <3 Best wishes!

I don't disagree with that. But many candidates can manage perfect English. What will make the difference between an A and an A* is your plot. Your creativity, your ability to keep your reader riveted.
And yup, like Dibbs said, using flashbacks surely gives a more mature impression. ;)
The ideas, people have already overloaded you. :) If you can, try to add something unexpected at the end.

Basically the main character in this plot is experiencing difficulty in moving up a beach.
You know that movie Saving Private Ryan ?
Remember the intro scene where the soldiers are clambering up the beach head whilst being shot at by German machine guns.
Basically, that scene was describing the D-Day Normandy Landings. You could use that as the basis of your story.

I always aim to keep things simple too. Try not to write a whole story - just a single scene.
