"I don't need happiness from within. I'll be happy when I....

am driving a porsche

live in a $5million mansion

win a billion $ lottery

have a family

am earning $.............

get married

find the partner of my dreams

get a new job"

?

Those are wants. They are not necessities in life.

Often people always want more and the more they have, the more they want.

It is called unsatisfactory. You need to be satisfied with what you have to be happy and when you earn those wants you will be more happy. Reasons for happiness are unlimited, but it is you who choose them.

@Meticulous, all what I mentioned above is from what I studied in Islam. =]

For me, it is only MORE and MORE MONEY Which can make me happy. For those who are wondering, I regularly trade a large portfolio of shares. Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING makes me more happy than making a large gain. I want more and more money from God, which is the ultimate and first priority.

I agree that no two persons will have the same criteria. For me, it is more and more money and wealth. Which ultimately leads to more power of you among people. Everybody fears you and respects you. This is what leads to happiness for me. Pretty much nothing else.

PS. I know many people will scoff by reading my post. So, please, be gentle. :P

I won't retort here. I will just state what I feel.

Now, the ultimate aim of all human endeavors is happiness. Everything we do is aimed at achieving happiness.
But do we really look satisfied with what we have? Nope.

One cannot be happy without peace. There is no happiness for a person who always doubts..

One way of achieving peace is prayer. Yoga or meditation also helps you achieve peace. You connect with your soul and you find eternal bliss.

A man is made by his belief,  As he believes, so he is.

Materialistic gain is temporary. For transcendental happiness to find you, you should be able to give up anything materialistic and work towards peace and union with your soul.

Union of souls will bring peace and hence happiness will follow. Love is a subset of happiness.

Only money? So, let us say that you have money and you are the richest man on earth but you have a very bad disease, you don't have a family or friends and only the people you deal with in life are businessmen. All the people respect you for your money but not for who you are and you know very well that once you will lose your money, no one will stand by your side.

Is that happiness for you? You said the only thing which brings you happiness is money.

@Ahana, yes I agree : 'One cannot be happy without peace. There is no happiness for a person who always doubts.'
