Q. A simple pendulum of length 1 m swing with s.h.m. through a semi vertical angle of 5°. If the mass of the pendulum bob is 15 g.
Calculate:
(i) its period of oscillation
(ii) the amplitude of the oscillation
(iii) the maximum acceleration of the bob

Is this CIE or Edexcel and is this AS or A2?

From the little knowledge of SHM that I have...

i) w(omega)= \sqrt(g/L)
                = \sqrt(10/1)
                 
T= 2\pi/ w = 2\pi/  \sqrt(10/1)
                             =1.99s
ii)
    sin\theta= -x/L
    x(max amp)= 0.96 m


iii)max accn = -w2A(amplitude)
                = - ( \sqrt(g/L))2 X 0.96
                =-10X 0.96
                =-9.6ms-2

This is A2, but i donno if this is from CIE or Edexcel.
