Y do we suport a plastic cup in beaker while doing enthalpy prac?

Reduce heat loss. Plastic = insulator

we support the cup in beaker to prevent heat transfer by conduction (air space between the cup and beaker) and also reduce the chance of toppling when you stir

Nah, its a calorimeter, reduces heat loss :)
