Ok i hear many ppl wondering...
now this is how the system works
The grade thresholds on the site are correct as yes 65-70% can fetch u an A
if the paper is tough....The total percentage can also be 70% and the person can get an A
but then on some ppls statement of results epecially for india...the percentage uniform mark is given..
the person can get 70% in actuality but it will show as 80 % on the statement of results... if we take the minimum grade threshold percentage for an A to be 70 %(in all components) totally
Keyur28's grade boundaries are actually correct FOR PERCENTAGE UNIFORM MARK not for the actual marks u obtain..
and remember the tougher the ppr... the lower the thresholds...
this system is dependent upon the curve and the curve hasnt disappeared as the grading system is STILL THE SAME..

thats why getting A's and A*'s has become more easier..

the more tougher the ppr the lesser r grade thresholds 4 all components. it depends on world's average, if many students get gud marks and ppr seems to b easier then grade thresholds r kept higher 4 component papers of subs.

yes, the grades r given acco. 2 grade thresholds.

we wil hav 2 get the minimum mark 4 A in all pprs then it wil b an A.

its much easier nw. get an A in all ppr and get an A in sub.

the grades r given acc. 2 grade thresholds but may b changed or regarded as different in different countries as they hav diff. grading system but CIE follows only the thresholds and gives grade according  2 dat.

I can confirm that percentage uniform marks will not be introduced for CIE IGCSE exams for the May/June 2010 exams, however they will start to appear in the Oct/Nov 2010 ones.  So on your statement of results, you will only get an alpha grade and no marks.

So I'm guessing that your grade will be determined by grade thresholds rather than by percentiles, as some people have thought.

Some of the countries are being tested for percentage uniform marks, but for the majority, they shall only be implemented from Oct/Nov 2010.

Here is a document I created using the grade thresholds from previous years to determine the A* grade boundary for IGCSE Biology for the previous few years.  (Obviously, my calculations are not completely accurate, and they may be a few % off, as CIE do not disclose the A* grade boundaries).

From recent sessions, it seems that 72/73% is enough to get the A*, but my teacher has always said that 80% is a definite A*.

So what will s10's A* grade boundary be?  Who knows...
