y doesnt copper react directly wid hcl to form copper chloride?

cuz copper is below hydrogen in the reactivity series ...it can't displace Hydrogen ..therefore ..no reaction

so can anyone please tell me the products when:
Acid + Metal -->
Acid + Base -->
Acid + Metal Carbonate -->
How metal nitrates breakdown
and how the boiling and melting points change down group of group VII

as we go down the group of halogen , m.p. and b.p. is increasin


metals of group 1 , well they give u following:
metal nitrate ( exceot for Li)--> metal nitrite + oxygen

metals for group two (and Li) and transition metals give u :

metal nitrate --> metal oxide + nitrogen gas + oxygen

(remeber group TWO means TWO gases ...group ONE means ONE gas given off )

don't panic ...relax and have faith and god and have sonfidence in urself mate

how do you know which gases are soluble or insoluble??
and my textbuk said dat Phosphorus pentoxide is soluble, while on anuder page it said dat most oxides/hydroxides r insoluble xcept foh
ammonium,sodium,potassium n calcium!! how wud we be able to tell whether stuff like this is soluble or not?

I thought group 2 means group II in the periodic table and same for group I

i have an important question

By the way when u have any AQ solutions then what u do is that u gotta kno the followin rules

1. when the metal is Cu or Ag then they go to the Cathode  but if other metals hence they form metal hydroxide

2.if the gas is a halogen then it goes to the Anode  ...if not a halogen then OH- goes to the Anode givin out Oxygen .i'll give u the formula , wait

4OH- --> 2H2O +O2+4e-

your right....group I is 1, group II is 2, and so on

acid + base = salt + water

acid + metal = salt + hydrogen

acid + carbonate = salt + carbon dioxide + water
