i dont get what they mean by a dependent variable and an independent variable. ???

eg. in the beetroot experiment for checking the redness of the dye, they asked for the independent variable, ( Jan 2010 U3 ) :-\

can someone help plz :-\, define dependent and independent variable with help of an example plzzzz !!!!!

The independant variable is the variable that you control. For example, let me use an easier experiment.

Like the temperature effect on enzymes. The temperature is the independant variable. Because this is the one that you control

The dependat variable e.g. is the rate at which starch is digested.

Like that.

the independant is always on the y axis of da graph.. the dependent is on the x axis

Dont confuse him..its the opposite

sorry i was in a rush nd ddnt read my post again..

the dependent variable is the one you get as a result from your experiment.. and u usually put it on the y axis

the independent variable is the one as the 1 about me said.. u can control.. like the temp nd u usually plot it on the x axis
