IGCSE MATHS Doubts

guys i've realised that my only weakness in maths is sequences...its so anoying!! i jst dunno hw to deduce da formula...i dnt get it...can any1 please help explain sequence to me...By the way am stuck on question 11 D (i) p4 may/june 09...

great I understood now but the MS says its PHN and PGM your are the same vertices so I guess they can be written any order right?

hmm .. yea absolutely .. they mean the same .. oe - Or Equivalent ..

for these kind of ques u hav to use some common sense .. even im kinda bad at sequences =\ unfortunately there are chances of this topic comin up .. because it didnt come in p2

i got this one for my mock test and i solved it by trial n error .. one thing is good tht they already mention the ans. so i try everything to get the ans

   n (n+1)
= -------   + (n + 1)
      2
=n² + 3n + 2
--------------
      2
ans is not (n +1 )² so i tried adding again

=n² + 3n + 2                      n (n+1)  
-----------------        +    ---------
         2                                 2

=(n +1 )²

got it .. sorry i couldnt give u a proper explanation =\

bii) Possibilities : Go and Stop or Stop and go

0.4*0.35  + 0.6*0.45 = 0.41

biii) Possibilities : Go and Stop , or Stop and Go , or Go and Go.

0.4*0.35  + 0.6*0.45  +  0.4*0.65 = 0.67
