Can someone explain how you do this one? (i know it's meant to be easy, but i haven't looked at how to do these :()

Write down the gradient of the line y=3x-4

and then:

Write down the equation of a line through (0,0) parallel to y=3x-4

thanks!

Dibss:

--- Quote ---for probability, we can simplify the fraction right? cuz the calculator just gives u the simplest form and its easier...

yep, it's actually better if you simplify!

y = mx + x

m = gradient

y = 3x-4

m = 3 = gradient.

parallel to y=3x-4 means that it has the same gradient = 3

y = 3x+c

wen x = 0, y = 0 (0,0)

0 = 3*0 + c
0 = 0 + c

c = 0

y = 3x

--- Quote from: Shazizzzle on May 11, 2010, 06:57:49 pm ---The principal amount is the one you invest.

The formula for compound interest, P(1+r/100)^t, is when, P is principal amount, r, the rate, and t, the time.

If the rate is yearly, then the time, t, must too be in years.
If the rate is monthly, the time, t, must be monthly too.

The answer you get to the formula above IS NOT THE INTEREST. It is the TOTAL AMOUNT.

If you invest 200, and the answer you get to the formula is 300, the 300 is not the interest, rather the TOTAL you get.

The interest is, total - principal, 300 - 200 = 100.
