But in countries like India, where there is height of corruption,where people like Kiran Bedi are not allowed to rise up...can you really expect normal women standing u for themselves in a society where all the other men are just waiting to crush you down!! It's probably very easy to say that there should be no reservation but i don't think all those people currently sitting in the parliament are fools..they must have given it a though too..

I don't think that there should be reservations for Women.
Reason 1. If women are given reservation, it will decrease the opportunity of the people who have the TALENT.
Reason 2. We say that men and women are equal ....then WHY THIS RESERVATION???

Some degree of reservation of seats in the parliament is necessary, for example, 5%. BUT the number should be less. This is because, 'reserving' the seats for women will create a good image of India or any other country, that it encourages women participation in the parliament. Surely, this will improve the international image of the country concerned.
I'm rephrasing why the reservation should not form a majority of the seats in the parliament:
I have no objection to women sitting in parliaments. But definitely not through something as blunt as 'reservation' of seats for them. If they have the ABILITY to handle stuffs and take decisions, they should sit. But the phrase 'through reservation' implies that they should have their seats 'reserved' in parliaments, whether they have the skills and ability to make decisions or not. Of course, this is not acceptable.
Judging the 'votes' and ability of the candidate is far better than 'reservation' and it also ensures that people of the right ability get to sit in the parliament.
