It is a measure of how accurate the stated resistance is. Normally a resistance has 3 or 4 bands. The 1st 3 show the value of the resistance. If there is no 4th band the accuracy is +-20%, a silver 4th band means an accuracy of +-10% and a gold band +-5%.

Do we have to know it in our IGCSE physics syllabus??
No pain................. No gain

Beats me. I only answer the maths and physics questions.
