hey anybody minds briefing me about "the differences between batch processing, online processing and real-time processing."

jus wanna make sure .. =]
Batch : Data collected over a period of time, processed at one go. Examples include producing utility bills.
Online : Contacts the server computer, updated real time. Examples include booking tickets.
Real time : Responds to input straightaway. Examples include monitoring a patient's condition at a hospital.

An ordinary DVD disk has a capacity of 17 GB. A Blu-ray disk has a capacity of 50 GB.

Thanks for reminding me about Blu-ray, did not realise that they have introduced it this year. But then since I own a PS3 I am aware of this LOL.

Verification - Checking to see if data has been copied correctly from one media to another (e.g. inputting data from a printout). Examples include double entry of data and visual comparison.

Validation - Checking to see if data inputted is acceptable. Examples include range check, format check, check digit, presence check etc.

Well I am in possession of an endorsed textbook, and that's all they have got on Blu-Ray there.

A Car repair centre uses an expert system to help diagnose car engine faults.

Describe the inputs, outputs, and processing of this system/

And can anyone also describe the same thing for Medical diagnose?

Q2: Online banking is used by many customers. Describe three methods of making sure that the data transferred is secure.

Likely to appear as a 5 marks / 6 marks question.

- Interactive input screen
- Questions about the car / patient's condition asked
- Rule base
- Knowledge base
- Inference engine
- Output showing probablity

If required to talk about evaluation :

- Doctors are interviewed to identify whether original task requirment has been met / possible improvements / limitations.

Yeah I noticed that as well ... However the endorsed textbook did not mention a thing so I presume that it is ... exempted?
