Multimedia and the Internet
The Internet is a massive source of multimedia content. By this we mean that we can access various sorts of media. These include:
sound - e.g. MP3 files. MP3 is an short form for MPEG layer 3.It is the standard format for compressing a sound sequence into a very small file, up to 12 times smaller. The good thing about MP3 is that there is no or very little loss of sound quality from the original file.
still digital pictures
moving digital pictures or "streaming video" such as DVD downloads to play on the computer
Multimedia sites that combine text, graphics and sound to display on your computer such as revision websites with video and audio clips, games and written tests.
What you need for multimedia
In order for a computer to cope with multimedia, it needs to fulfil certain requirements:
It needs to be powerful enough to display the presentation e.g. a palmtop needs a powerful enough processor to display pictures on its screen and be able to play good quality sound.
A pc needs a reasonable graphics (video) card.
A pc needs a lot of memory - both RAM and hard drive space.
A method of producing reasonable sound (sound card plus speakers on a pc) is needed.
An output interface is needed if motion is to be used e.g. force feedback motion on joysticks to make them shake in games.
Appropriate software to run the presentation is needed eg software that will display the video and sound files properly
Good Luck you guys
Don't freak over ICT.
Just get a good nights sleep
And don't forget to practice past papers
